I think two issues have popped up now. The second issue of people not being able to start new squads is a problem that really doesn't matter to me quite frankly i don't care if diso and a-s tend to get the best players.
The problem with the ladder right now is this: There just isn't enough players competing in the player base to make for a proper hiarchy. You can muse all you want about why this is but the bottom line is there can't be more than 4 other squads in each league that can consistently beat the #1 in that league in a game.
And the solution isn't roster caps for two reasons in my opinion. Number one is quite frankly in any given squad you are going to be hard pressed to find more than 10 guys no matter what their roster size is that log on consistently. The cap of 30 really isn't going to do much and if it did the benefits would be lost due to the fact that look at it this way... I personally dislike and pretty much abhor up to 80% of the ss population. If you cap the rosters its just going to be harder and harder to make a competative squad without have some quicksand guys on etc... I'd much rather certain cliches stay lumped together. Even now its pretty hard anymore to find a squad that doesn't have a few really whiny guys due to the low player base.
When you think about player base I mean number of players in tw that have actively been in a competative squad and in that case the problem is clear there can't be more than 200 i estimate. So I think the solution up to whoever whether it be starting "Training" squads or something that has been happening more and more of late in basing squads taking elite players from other similar zones. Really theres like not a huge threshold to learning how to play this game guys, if you look at other games with HUGE player bases and how complex they are ie. Guild Wars... C-S etc you see that really competatively we are not even that demanding. When was the last time anyone had to log on to Teamspeak to play a DD?
My point is this the problem with the ladder right now is the player base and the only way to solve it is to increase the player base. Most of us are probably hovering around 20 now it just doesn't work to go into pub and try to get some 16 year old to join your squad. Instead try finding some competative people from other games even who are mature enough to be a part of a group would be a lot better than whining about roster caps or elite hording
I dont think anyone is really bitchin about the situation. We are all just sayin our own opinions on what reason we think is a problem, and what ways we can help our problem. I dont know if a roster limit would or wouldnt help, i just know we never tried it and it seems logical to me. Maybe im mistaken, id unno. I understand there are some inactives on every roster, i also understand the "expanding" part in spastic going to 2 and 3 leagues. Thats fine, the point is the TWL roste rlimit is still 35 and u guys (not only spastic, i only used them as an example) are over that limit. There are a few 3 league squads over the limit and a few 1 league squads close to it. I just dont see how we can have more then 10 competative squads when every time someone shows talent they are recruited by some top squad. Like i said multiple times. We only have a certain amound of players in Subspace, a lower number in TW, and even a slimmer # that play TWLB.

The active veterans of the past are retiring, and playing new games. Currently, the people that run this game, are much less than the newer people playing. The responsibility to keep this game what we all know and love, is on the shoulders of those who have played it longest, and the load carried is getting heavier. We've got to start embracing the newer players more, especially those that have actually played for 3 or 4 years. Like it or not, if this game is to survive, the power has to be passed down sometime.
