I like ardour's (?) idea of having people write and submit their write-ups each week, and having a panel of 3 people or so decide on which gets put up. This will promote originality and competition amongst the writers so that hopefully the quality increases. ... Or just do whatever, as long as its put up. It helps to get people interested and feud rivalries. I think one of the main problems that staff has now-a-days is the lack of hyping stuff such as leagues. TWL, draft leagues, bwc and pretty much any special event needs to be overhyped if you want people to give a damn. The only reason TWL succeeds is due to the tradition of past seasons. I think that was one of the main faults with the past 2 draft tournies, they werent featured on trenchwars.org, they werent advertised in the zone, they werent put in the news.txt.... which leads me to another issue... WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE NEWS.TXT? You want new people to be interested? update that shit!

But yeah, you're right about events needing to be advertised zone-wide in the game and also on the website and in forums.

I think you guys are thinking way to big on this notion. A staff of 10 people or having everybody write in is just not feasable.

I think you want 3 guys, 1 per league.

10 was just a number thrown out. It could be anywhere between 1 to the whole tw population.

I could do the match recording part, as long as someone taught me how to run the program that recorded it. I have 2 80GB harddrives with almost nothing on either of them. Space isn't an issue and RAM isn't either with 1.5 GB.

Well basically it's really easy to record them. Download a program and start it up. The hard part might be choosing the right codec to maximise quality/size. We've been experimenting with that in diso, we'll try to reach a decision.

what codec did you use and what program?

I have been using SnagIt and Camtasia Studio, both work fine but the file size is always huge.

People would read the news.txt if it was updated... I mean it never pops up now because its not updated, but if they updated it, people would be curious and check it out when it pops up.
