i was never trying to make the point that no squad that technically would have been expected to lose in the semifinals had ever ended up making it to the finals and losing there instead.

i meant "surprise semi/finalist" in the sense of "oh my god, everyone was rating this squad #7 of 16 before the season and they actually did something."

what rand said and season 5 onix was to be trumped by siege, elusive, light, shriek (who probably did better against us than anybody else that season), hell, anybody i thought. they were only better than vortex and british squadron imo, but somehow made it to the finals. they had not 1 player who had played twl before, and remember we didn't have twd to practice with then so there was no way anyone would put an unestablished squad that high.

Melee was supposed to be better than Diso and Sk8 that season. Melee had some fine starters, also ex-scrotal's which dissolved before Melee was created. ' Melee in fact started because Scrotal's dissolved, Plague Rabbit being captain at the time. Melee itself was a collection of pilots from good dissolved squads when it just started.

As for Grapevine... I think that already was a collection of some good ex-melee players and people who were already had become better. Mega Newbie was already introduced in TWL with Egyptian when he played with Lomoro. Connection is a veteran, ex scrotals ex egyptian. Metalkid had been around for a long time. Janitor was already introduced into TWL by Egyptian by the name Slaque. Anon and Randedl himself were from Melee.

9.Quicksand - They're without a doubt the biggest wildcard this season. They could go 9-1 or 1-9, so just to be safe I'm keeping them out of the playoffs. The aggressive rushing style that they rely on will cause them to be inconsistant. I'm predicting Izor has an all star year though.
Starters - Izor/Deluge/Ale/Racka/Surfer
Backups - The rest of their roster
Key players - Izor and Deluge

I think you had good predictions but i wanted to fix up quicksand's a little bit..
