stability shmability....if your squad plays 200 games and thinks you are the shit & -f- w/o practice whips ur ass and makes it to the semis, they more than deserve to be back in. Seriously it just proves how much better than you they are if they beat you w/o practice. SEMIS REINV 4 THE WIN

Sometimes you gotta be blunt, no need to make everything sound pretty. I really dont see what the big deal is about it, everyone DOES know how it works, and it HAS been around for a long time, stating simple facts. No one complained about all of this when the rules were posted and invited squads were announced, so I dont see any reason for people's feelings to get hurt over a simple statement like I made.

when the decision about auto-qualifying was brought up in our meeting, at the time, the ladder suggested that it wouldn't really matter. there was 1 squad not in the top 12 for twld, that being -final- and frankly, they deserve the spot if they choose to accept it. i dont really remember what the other leagues looked like, but i believe it was the same for javs. basing, there might be an argument, but i trust the squads that have been in twl and as a result of their success they get rewarded by being entered in the league the next year. again, at the time of the meeting, it didn't really affect anything. also, what squads wouldn't have the 50%, i don't have records of who was on what squad at the end of last year so i have nothing to compare anyway.

it really isn't that hard to qualify for twl, all you have to do is play games. as for the opponent rating, there isn't really much it tells you. ok savanger played squads that weren't overall as good as the squads unleash played. savanger won the majority oft he games. unleash, based on their rating, suggests that they didn't win many of their games against theese higher ranked squad. so we learn from the opponet rating that savenger wins easy games and unleash loses in harder games. would unleash beat easier squads? maybe. would savanger lose harder games? maybe. there isn't really much you can determine from it. also, even if you averaged the two numbers or something, savanger would still rank in the high enough tier.

Well when you had your meeting we (Disoblige) probably were in a really low TWJD spot because we chose only to play high ranked teams and a lot of the time we played with a completely wb line.

I think Exalt is right (God forgive me) about the 50% rule. I don't know about STARTING lineups, because often they change week to week. But 50% of the final roster of twl (after twl roster lock), should have to be on the squad. I think if a playoff squad reaches the 50% requirement and the never dissolve requirement, they deserve a spot in the next season, as long as they stay active. I won't say -Final- doesn't deserve a spot, being that they're basically a legendary squad in tw and will put up a good fight even with massive rust, but they don't play in the zone actively until 2 weeks before twl, and it's the same routine every season. I think activity should be rewarded. If squad #13 who misses the twl cut by 1 spot and 5 twd points has 700 games played, and team #12 makes it by playing 50 games against easy squads (we'll say team #12 has average opponent rating of 1007 whil team #13 has average opponent rating of 1340) then I think team #12 should be skipped over, based on games played and strength of schedule (for lack of a better term). There are a few variables I think should be taken into consideration alongside actual twd rating. Shit, I'll write a formula for you if you want me to, I've already got one in my head.

yeah there were a bunch of squads coming back but when you change the number of teams allowed in, that's gonna happen for a year, and that happens to be this one. the rules of the auto invite were established already from last season, they will probably be different next season

~In response to tourny idea:

- Thing I dont really like about tournaments(for qualifying) in any leagues - sports or spaceship - means that a team with not as high skill normally seems to weasel in (not qualifying tourny - but George Mason in the NCAA tourny). Also, some teams with skill have one fuckup and they are screwed after all the hardwork they put in.
-If you wanted to eliminate that you could use something you see with World Cup soccer for where you still have a chance with one loss (multiple rounds). Some problems with that - people would bitch about getting in like now and it would take too long.
-You also have to be careful with matchups which could become an issue.
- Qualifying after the offseason games is probably the best way to go even though it isn't perfect.
