a) if -F- did that, smart squads would just not play them. that will show them real quick that they need to get active and earn their spot like everyone else. nothing personally against -f-, they're just an example.

b) basingcrew has 9 people on their roster. additionally, they did get disqualified from this past twlb season for forfeiting twice. additionally, they have played 30 games, while penetrate has played 112, while rejected basers have played 106, while virtuosus has played 95, while mambo has played 51, while pandora has played 38. my point is that despite them being #1 in TWBD right now, they are dead, and they aren't the most active squad, and by getting kicked out of twlb for forfeits, they proved they don't belong there.

well at the rate there going, 30 being more than enough to make it, they'd qualify again anyways.

So there goes that plan.

This is the best policy shift the twl staff have made ever.


I know squads, who in accordance to previous rules, will be bitter about not being automatically qualified. Yet these squads can easily make the top 12 in their respective TWD areas so it really isn't that much of an inconvenience.

The best thing about this is that it will increase activity offseason and incentivise top squads to take TWD more seriously. Nickname is right to say that a squad like -final- will just become more active 2 weeks before TWL and get to the top of the TWD ladders: but that's 2 weeks more activity than before. I'm not sure how you ever contemplated this as an argument against the change.

The change will also give weaker squads an idea of what they're up against and how to develop strategy whereas before they were completely in the dark.

Furthermore, the change will mean TWLs get better because top teams will have been forced to play for their spots. In the past couple of TWLs, I have seen a few squads not perform quite as well as they should have done due to inactivity offseason and an overall lacklustre approach to the TWD ladder.

The people who are pro-'qualification for all' are unsurprisingly those who only have played this game for a few years.. And those who are against it have gotten bored with this game a long time ago..

Biggest pro:
New people get better practise because they'll play against the people who are/were actually good at this game (although it's very unlikely that the people who are/were actually good at this game will try their hardest during off-season/qualification..)
Biggest con:
This game is getting old, and TWL is one of the few things that keeps the people playing.. TWL has a good reputation thanks to the old squads and the familiar faces representing those squads. However those same old squads and players are getting tired of the same thing over and over, so I doubt any of them will like it when staff forces them invest more of their time in this game by having a quite a useless qualification for TWL..

Personally I think losing a lot of the old squads/familiar faces will lead to TWL slowly bleeding to death since not enough people will care about it anymore.. Continuity, like in every sporting-event is important, if every season there'd be new teams, it's hard to keep interest.. so imo staff cutting the old squads some slack would be nice.. Unless staff sees a rise in numbers of new players, that I fail to see, I'm not really sure what they're trying to achieve with a decision like this.. However with drawing the line for qualification at 15 TWD-games, their rule isn't really something to care about.. any squad with the slighest bit of dedication to make it to another TWL season should be able to make this mark.. so I brand this thread as "quite unnecessary"..

what worries me though (well actually it doesn't, but it would worry me if i'd still be dedicated to this game), is how bad staff handles things these day. the reasoning to why we're now having a qualification-for-all seems to be because it would make things more 'interesting'.
care to elaborate on that or do you decide on rules by picking them out of a hat? unless you cut back the amount of twl squads to a number around 6-8, qualification is always going to be easy for the top squads and for the old squads it will mostly feel as a waste of time and they'll be even more bored with this game by the time twl actually arrives..

Totally disagree, this is a terrible idea. I don't want to wind up playing my_little_ponies in TWLD because they win half their games as opposed to -Final- who might play 5 or 10 but still only come out with an 1100 something rating before TWL. Who do YOU think would be better competition?

On the other hand, no one wanted to play Anti-Scrub in TWLB. They went downhill as a squad and didn't belong in TWLB, but they still screwed two perfectly capable squads in Rampage and Ancients out of LB because of what they did MONTHS ago.

5.01 All registered Trench Wars League Squads may only have a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 35 registered members. Players may only have one name on their Squad's roster, and if they have more they may be found in violation of double-squadding rules (see section III).
