Let me clarify myself a bit. I do not think this rule is a great one. If a squad, Build in this instance, always shows up with 5 players for their TWLD matches while only having 7 on their roster, kudos to their level of commitment.

However the rule is pretty straightforward, a squad must have 8 members minimum and can only have 35 members maximum if they want to participate in TWL. To those who come with arguments as in; this only goes for consideration for TWL during qualification, only goes for a TWLB squad or 'may' means you can choose to have 8 minimum or 35 members maximum, well you're simply wrong. Sorry. Please before saying what YOU think the rule SHOULD be, go the site, simply read the TWL rules, and you'll find out this rule is very straightforward. It leaves no room for personal judgement or different interpretations of what the rule means. It simply states that you have to have a minimum of 8 members and cannot have more than 35 members to participate in TWL, nothing more, nothing less.

To people like Fujiwara and Eelam, I thought I was pretty clear I didn't think my squad (based on our performances in TWLD this season) deserves to be in the playoffs this season, I just made the thread to point out to staff that they're being lazy again about their jobs and aren't even paying attention to their own rules.. it's not the first time these last few seasons.. I'm pretty sure Build has been playing with 7 members only for some weeks now.. BIT strange that nothing is done about this.. Also, I love how none of the TWL staffers are able to reply to this thread within 2 days.

Also I just read on top of the TWL rules this little piece of text.

Trench Wars Leagues rules may be revised at any time by the League Operators, but notice will be given on the official TWL site (twl.trenchwars.org) beforehand. As well, TWL is a privilege, not a right, and this privilege can be revoked for any player by the League Operators with sufficient cause.

I have to admit it's a good cover-up which makes TWL staff always right in their decision-making. They can just revoke the rule, and let Build stay in the playoffs.

Keep in mind, the "may" refers to minimum of 8 which is needed for LB but not for LJ AND LD, that is why the word "may" is there since for LJ and LD you need only 5. If they meant that you MUST have minimum of 8 players than they would have outright said it. Again bram this not to you, its too the other newbies in your squad making a big deal out of this. The only reason im being "anal" about the rules is because the other members of your squad is being anal about it, saying that is "it is clear u NEED 8 therefore build should be out" Im just arguing that one could look from the other point of view and say since the word "may" is there it doesnt necessarily mean they need 8. Btw Noah, rules are guidelines to what should be done, but there are hard cases in which rules do not cover because rules haven't been made for those situations, this is where people such as Judges use principles to make decisions. In this situation the principle of fairness falls into play, Build had more than 8 when they joined TWL but people for one reason or another kept leaving now they have 7 going into playoffs, which technically is enough players to play a LD playoff game.

id also like to point out that ... IF someone by the name of pascone chooses diso over Build....killing unabled in the process, this will be the Second time Build has gotten screwed over due to shady over generalized rules that can be interpreted more then one way.

Eelam, although I agree with you, if a squad with 5 members can actively participate in TWLD/J, fine with me, the rule doesn't say this at all. It clearly says "all registered TWL squads", meaning in LD,LJ and LB. Also it says 'may only', meaning it's not really up to the squads to decide to have less than 8 or more than 35. If it was the case that it's up to the squads to decide, this rule wouldn't even be there in the first place, you see the logic?

Though I agree, having a lot of may-s in rules is just terrible. And there's really an excessive amount of them in our current rules, I'd advise to get rid of them to make things more clear. Unless TWL staff actually wants to keep rules as vague as possible ofc.
Like in the same rule as I quoted, there's also:

Players may only have one name on their squad's roster, and if they have more they may be found in violation of double-squadding rules (see section III).

The first may is pretty clear; you're permitted to have only one name on your roster. (Just like you're permitted to have a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 35) It doesn't mean you can choose to have one name on your squad's roster, or more if you like that better.. So why not say; Players ARE only allowed to have one name on their squad's roster. The second may should really not be there either. You 'may' be found in violation of double-squadding rules? Why not just say you WILL be found in violation of double-squadding rules? Same goes for the other rule, either make it: All registered TWL squads must have a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 35 eligible players on their TWL roster, or just get rid of the rule entirely.

Bleh.. I don't even wanna go and read deeply into the rest of the rules, they're probably all terribly vague..
