  • Cure for twl

I will start by saying im focusing on TWLD but u can derive this to other leagues.

I believe the first problem is the competition so i would prefer 12 squads battling it out per league.

Roster limit of every squad should be 35 people, hands down.

In twl, squads compete to win a title. I will say that again, SQUADS compete to win a title. I am not talking about 5-8 same people playing every game for their squad.

A new feature i am proposing is "declared career". What this basically means is that each player when joining a squad can choose a declared career he wants to be looked as. 3 choices = A wb, a jav, or baser. This way each league has to have all players who are assigned to their prefered career play at least once in twl.

With this said, i think it should be mandatory for every person on squad roster to play at least 1 game. This way, rosters might become smaller but in fact stronger, giving a chance for other squads to be made for even more competition. This will decide who you REALLY need on squad, and wont give freebie titles to people who never moved a finger in twl games.

Now combine this with some other opinions across the forums on TWL improvements and i think this would be the final, perfected product of TWL games.

PS: i do realize some people who would be looked as useless on squad would give up the will to even participate in twl but if they truely felt like that, they dont deserve to be in twl in the first place. I would 100% of the time replace some newb who wanted to be in twl with a vet who lost interest in competition any day of the week.

    Your thoughts?

Interestingly enough, that group of ideas could prove surprisingly effective. But I think it would require people on the roster for their designated 'career' to play at least 50 % of their games, to establish more of a commitment, and not as much waste of player.

    These ideas could indeed -

A:Strengthen a roster down to the fundamental players
B:Allow for a smaller portion of the excess players to split amongst other squads, while a more larger portion of them will go out onto newly made squads altogether
C:The overall competence of the squads will rise by a certain degree while increasing the amount of competent squads

While I still think the current amount of squads is sufficient, some of the lowest TWL tier squads may actually become or be replaced with higher strength, so that all 8 squads will be pretty well leveled, rather than there being like 5 'strong' squads, and 3 remaining kinda meh squads.

The only downside I guess would be players who really want to play more than one ship...but I guess ultimately the non careered secondary ship players can play those ships in twd games. It's better than nothing.

This just seems to be an overly complicated way to reach the simple idea of: less members on a squad = more active/competitive/stable squads. Which I disagree with..

      - Players who currently are hardly active but choose to be on a squad's TWD (hardly ever TWL) roster just to play a few TWDs with their old buddies, won't become active players once they get cut from their squad by force. They also probably wouldn't mind if they're just taken of the TWL roster if that's a rule, so they'd just stay on the same squad's TWD roster..
      - Smaller squads would probably mean less active squads (there's not that many hardcore players). And this idea aims at 1-league squads really..
      - There aren't that many good leaders/captains in this game, so most of these squads would just come and go.
      - This idea would need a whole new set or rules. Like what happens if a squad hasn't used on of their 35 TWL players yet with a few games left in the season and they decide to just cut him from the TWL roster. Do they get a penalty or not? And what if they'd decide not to use 1 player at all? What kind of penalty would you suggest for this major offense.

I really think the 35 players max is a good limit for TWL squads, at most make it a bit lower for 1 league squads, but those squads often already have smaller rosters (Quicksand, Heavy are good examples). So I just doubt this would do anything besides make things complicated for everyone.

Good for competition, bad for future competition. In an age where fewer of the old schoolers are coming back to compete in TWL each year we are looking for the new generation of players to play in future TWL's. All this would do is force squads to axe all the people who suck off their rosters before TWL, leaving a huge group of players who helped get a squad into TWL squadless and pissed off. These people might try to make squads next year among themselves, the ones who were kicked out of the league, but once again they will fail to the more elite TW players. The only way to avoid this, would be to enact this right this second, and players would have to basically play for a spot as a starter on their squad or leave to start a new squad. Now this would make more active squads in TWD, so if you bumped the squad limit back to 12 or 16 it might help. But once again this would just destroy the competition of TWL because there would be 6-8 squads that the top 8 squads would just feed off of like there are every year.

          re

best idea is to kill roster size down to 25/30. Forces squads who want to participate in more than one league to start getting there one leaguers to practice other leagues. That how i got good in javelin was forced to practice it so pandora can become a 2 league squad.

Excuse me, but if some players feel useless in their squads, they always have the option to join other squad or create new.
A roster of 50 people probably wont allow 2/3 of the people to play in TWL, but if they don't play and stay in that squad, and it doesn't bother them, then its theirs problem.

Seriously, screw loyalty. this is a game and you play to have fun. If you were in a squad and you lost your place so they don't let you play as you wished, then leave.

                  this guy is right

there really is no point to a 35 squad roster, but people are all about it. sake had barely had 8 people on the roster and we made the playoffs. so you really don't need a big roster. but then again, there is a reason they stay on the squad. they know they aren't good enough to start on the good squads, but they are good enough to be on them. they know they can join a lesser squad and start, but they would have no chance of winning. thus, the good squads accept them so the main players can have other people to practice with.

How do you barely have 8 people. You either do or you don't have 8 people. Anyways, I like this idea, but maybe only because it directly effects me. I can outspider 95% of the population in TWLB but consistently find myself with no better offers other than Brainwave/Juice. Setting a roster limit (even for twd) would leave people no other options other than staying squadless (which is the path I have chosen) or form another squad in hopes of building a high level of competition. I'm all for it, I would play for a squad full of dice/pandora/penetrate/spastic 2nd stringers.

Would this allow people to play TWL in different leagues for different squads? IE I play TWLJ for mylittleponies but TWLB with penetrate? Or are you basically forcing people to play one league only?

                          Either way it sucks.

you fail again at life Fit of rage, basically each player ont he roster have ot play 1 game atleast the whole season. I can play all games in javs but let someone like voth play a game in LJ vs sixies and bench him whole way in basing and it will be cool.
