Apparently I'm in the minority that thinks the rocket+repel thing should be dealt with, especially because it's arguably a bug with game mechanics in Continuum. It allows you to go far faster than the max speed is configured in the arena settings, which is kinda bullshit.

well it's kinda like subbing someone out as/right before they get hit with a bullet. Even though the arena has a delay to prevent such measures, kinda like the limit on speed/top speed being broken. Both accomplishable with timing. that's apparently okay to do, taking the javs with rockets out would be pretty hypocritical. Not saying I like it, or think it's fair, or should be there at all. I just think staff won't act on changing it because too many people have gotten used to it over time/or would whine, especially if it affects them in a positive manner - see thunder/pirates ld.

I watched da1 today and he wasnt really lagging that badly with his rockets. It is an abuse of the mechanics of the game like stabwound said. I suppose on the flip side of that, people have said that 5 spider matches are very boring so at least it adds some entertainment value

Shutting down a jav is a team effort, being a shark who can rep a rocket bomb is only one part of it. all 4/5 spids and terr should be aware of whats happening and what could happen with an nme jav. that being said there are times when a jav can run through 2 bursts a line of bullets, AND cut your perfectly timed double-rep, that makes you wanna cry. But when it comes down to it, even a lesser quality team can shut down a great jav with the correct tactics (see plade v diso last season) my boy squall went neg, just sui'ing da1 all game long, completely taking him out of the game, and handed us (plade) the win. da1 is a great jav, diso is a great team, and plade was mediocre at best. but anytime da1 came into the screen there was squall pew pew pewing him or me and beast emping him. it's not a hard tactic to do, but one rarely used by coward spiders too afraid to go neg in an lb ftw.

Jav rockets should stay in the game, any ship changes for lb/bd that should be considered are the unplayable ships like weasels or levis.get some slightly different settings for those ships. limiting ourselves to playing 6 ships is dumb, if u wanna spice up games,and get rid of 5 spider lines then give us some other viable options then playing 5spids/4spids1jav/4spids1wb/3spids1jav1wb.

Sure the repped rocket is likely a glitch, but so are the repignored bullets... so should we remove them aswell? Everyone has this advantage/disadvantage learn to work with it and against it...

uhm i don't know why ppl are going pff only newb sharks can't cope with javz

i mean they have been used quite successfully this season by a good few squads ! so if elite sharks find them no problem at all why are they being used to good effect?

also i may suck in shark but still i've had many a rep ignore due to laggy javs that make a big difference, far more so than a laggy bullet as it takes out the entire cram etc...

both sides have a point, the rocket speed up is well known and sharks can generally deal with it - but combine that with lag so the jav can eat a few bullets and still bomb an unreppable bomb then you do have an imbalanced ship. The rocket really does emphasize a jav's lag and effect, even if the person isn’t lagging particularly bad, but if they are well then you get Daldur and random explosions.

I don’t think they should be taken out, but I don’t think a wb’er who finds it strange should get bashed for pointing out the advantage a laggy jav has with a rocket and being repped when it’s clearly the case.

I don't think most people know what an actual rep ignore is. It's when it reps on your screen but still hits your team, it's not when a jav bomb "sneaks" through badly timed reps, every bomb is reppable.

No, I don't think that is what a repignore is either.

Because, I have to rep before an enemy jav shoots a bomb or my team dies every time. On their screen if i rep later there isn't a repel at all, but if I rep before the jav shoots, by the time the bomb appears on their screen, my repel appears also.

A repignore is when the rep is timed perfectly, on both the teams' and sharks' screen but the bomb still explodes and kills someone. OR: a repignore occurs when you rep someone's ship but they don't seem to be affected by it.

A rep ignore would be I see someones bullet, I repel, and the bullet is not fazed by the repel...I think this is because the repel only has a couple points where it actually repels stuff, instead of being a constant shield, and a bullet with sufficient velocity can sneak in between that time. I dont consider that abuse of a mechanic. Abuse of a mechanic would be I get repelled backwards while rocketing and now am going faster than max speed forward.
