The biggest problem with TWL is the fact that there are a few TWL ops, most of which have no clue about the league they are trying to run, haven't played in the ship in games they are trying to host, and are otherwise clueless about the importance of TWL as seen with the huge amount of people actually considering allowing Distension to be hosted as a precursor to TWL even with the (still ongoing) large amount of crashes it causes. The solution to this problem doesn't have to do with finding better hosts and twl ops though honestly, because the best option for twl ops unfortunately are staffers who actually play the leagues and have for several years.
What needs to happen is for a completely new system of TWL management that adds more glamor and prestige to being a captain of a squad that is in TWL. Basically instead of having a few ops decide appeals or pass judgement on games there should be a committee of squad captains, perhaps two from each squad that is participating in TWL that decides on what happens during the league. So if there are 8 squads playing TWLD, and there are two squads involved in an appeal than that means there are 12 other captains who would make the decision instead of (no offense) Stargazer, Mirrorrim, and Pure_Luck (who actually has taken a pretty active approach to his position this year).
I don't think that the calls would be any more biased than they are right now with staff making decisions, I don't see how the leagues could really get much worse, and if things turn out terrible then the captains themselves deserve and receive the blame for letting things get that way instead of staff. So basically put the pressure on the people who are sitting here whining about the league being bad by making them the true "ops" for TWL.
As far as the people hosting the games it isn't always their fault that they don't know anything about the league they are hosting in, TWL needs hosts and these are the people willing to spend their time doing it. However it isn't always good for the game itself when they don't know about the league they are hosting, so basically my idea would be to once again use the captains as the eyes and ears for the host himself, allow two captains who have the time and are willing to watch the game to sit on on a seperate frequency with the host and let him know if something is fishy, and even help explain certain things to him should the need arise. It is only through captain interaction with staff that a great TWL season will happen, because basically without each other the league is useless.

On a side note, I would like every squad that is considered good to pick up a few rookies this season, for as much as we cry about lack of competition we surely aren't doing much to fucking help it, were just sitting with our thumbs up our asses while the game dies and we aren't replacing the good players who leave with any fresh players. Quicksand has recruited a few mediocre warbirds whom we think have talent and get along with our players, and I think every other squad should also. It is just really time that we stop bitching and moaning with the way the zone is heading because it isn't all staffs fault, we have all become so egotistical that we refuse to play with anyone who can't go even or positive every game when we ourselves were there at one point and someone gave us a chance. So heres our chance, if we have 25 squads in TWL next season, lets bring 75 new players with us, even if they don't play in TWL they will get better throughout the season.
