basing is harder to learn? ROFL. Yeah sitting in a cram shooting downwards is harder to anything else in tw, you got that right. The fact that it took you 10 years to learn is probably the same reason why you are so bad at hosting mafia, you lack intelligence.

Dueling Directions: Stay with team, follow coords, shoot target, chase
when outnumbering, conservative when outnumbered,
energy conservation


Basing directions: OUT OF EAR, cram, line (many experienced basers don't even line correctly), push when nme sharks are dead,
play conservative when team sharks are dead, conserve
energy when attaching, shoot target, energy
conservation, learn the use of 5 different ship
types and how to use them in base, leave repless sharks
in mid, force reps on secondary shark. etc etc.

Basing and dueling both require teaming, whereas basing requires more strategy and more of an explanation to a newcomer. So many new terms.

Think about it, if a newbie just started ss. Would he be more apt to learn all these new strategies? Or jump into dd / jd matches.

I think you are right about just jumping in a ship when never playing any before...

but the get GOOD at a league... it is much harder to get good in warbird/jav compared to basing... as many many many players have shown us

players take 5 years to even get decent at wb/jav... basing takes them less than a year

I guess I will agree with Exalt here, Warbirding is easier to learn but harder to master while Basing is harder to learn but easier to master.

To be a REALLY good baser though you need a couple years.

and it's complex because there are multiple ships to learn.

Majority of basers learn spid. Few learn complex ships like shark/terr

Wb aim takes years to master for sure, and jav as well.

To the point: That's why basing is less popular, and a smaller division. It's harder to learn so people don't bother. But once they do learn, you're right it takes less time to master than other divisions


Another contributing factor: No one takes time to take players under their wing, and train them. (some do). But usually if you don't understand simple basing concepts you're axed within a few games.

wbing is less easier cause wbs recharge the fastest but still all you gotta do is dodge, aim, shoot very simple
jav is the most complex just because it involves bouncing bombs and the ship is slower but usually people get their kills the same way they do in wb so basically just dodge, aim, shoot
