Got a new monitor yesterday (an LG W2343T, 16:9) and after I installed it I fired up Continuum. Changed resolution to 1920x1080 and started playing in Trenchwars. Wow, what a view! Better than sunset in the Rocky Mountains on a nice day.
Then a ?go twbd. Eeks! Server responded with 'Maximum allowed screen resolution is 1440x1024 in this arena'. Changed resolution to 1280x1024, and set the monitor in 4:3 mode.
Now I have two problems with 1280x1024:
1. Pixels aren't square, even in 4:3 mode. In 4:3 mode pixels are square when the resolution is 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x960, 1600x1200 etc. In 1280x1024 pixels are more like bricks which makes shooting (among other things) a lot more complicated. Playing in 1280x1024 and you don't see it? Just measure the physical size of your radar. It's not square.
2. It looks like I'm looking through dirty glasses: smeared pixels all over (1280 horizontal pixels stretched to 1440 and 1024 vertical pixels streched to 1080). I want a one pixel to be one pixel!
I addressed the first issue by creating a custom resolution, 1362x1024. Pixels are square again (as is the radar), and ?go twbd works.
However, I can't solve the second issue. I would be very happy with a resolution of 1440x1080 (in 4:3 mode). Pixels would be square and no smearing. But the maximum vertical resolution is 1024.
The 1440x1024 resolution on itself is ridiculous (it's something between 4:3 and 16:10) and absolutely unplayable. It's probably intended to cap 4:3 (1280x1024) and 16:10 (1440x900) resolutions.
My request: would it be possible to add a mere 56 vertical pixels, so we could play in 1440x1080. I'm sure users of cheaper 16:10 screens also would love this, since they can then play in 1400x1050 (4:3 mode, no smearing).
