TWL Changes

to that 1-leaguer list: ROFL. has to be one of the worst lists ever compiled. Murder has started in TWL in all 3 leagues for 2 years in a row, and not only that, he can play every ship in LB. He finished #2 in TWLD in kills and started almost every LJ and LB game, in multiple ships. There are many more examples like this.

This. Its not just new people that the zone needs but the people that plays in it to actually try other ships as it's a way to increase competition also. I could go on TWD site and easily make a huge list of people who are 1 leaguers who been playing the same ship over the years..and this has nothing to do with talent, or if people are fast or slow learners but more on their attitude to learn something different. Change their attitude, help the league. And this type of encouragement should of been done years ago..but its never too late I guess..

I play a lot of jds and still take 20 screenshots if i get 8-10, 60 screenshots from all angles if i get +. So im no longer a 1 leaguer even if i suck at it?

strict twl roster cap + unlimited twd roster limit sounds like a good idea.

as a suggestion, originally from reaver, how about:

squad been active for 3 months: +5 roster spots
squad been active for 6 months: +10 roster spots
etc.

working together as a squad for many seasons coming from a 'terrible' squad to one of the best is alot more satisfying than simply joining a stacked team.

postponing games due to lack of starters is not such a good idea if the roster limits are not strict. I see no reason to postpone games if you have a 35 man roster, even if the people missing games would be your best... however, if you only have but 8 people, it could be a viable option. playoffs and especially finals could be postponed to get the best vs the best

Is the objective to improve the league for the people who already play? Has the towel been thrown in for the idea of trying to increase the general playing population and having this in turn drive bigger/better league play?
I guess what Ease is promoting would work as far as making it better for the handful of die-hard league players who want to continue to grab those elusive pixilated championship icons but these ideas do come across to me as a bit desperate. But perhaps it is time to concede, give up on trying to grow the general population and concentrate on holding on to what is left.

this, if it works well, would probably lead to more participation in twl for newer players as with limited rosters we would see the creation of MORE capable squads meaning MORE player participation week in week out as rather than 10 lineups we could have potentially a few more in the run

I think that if you dont play a different league it isnt allways because you cant do good (thats what small brain draft like ppl think).
For example i fucking hate dd i think warbirds league is fucking stupid.
I also think i could play at a shitty twlj team if i wanted but i like base more and just go for a basing spot that got better javs than me. I also played twlj some seasons ago

If we're concerned about fostering new players -- and one of the main issues we've discussed is the huge gap in ability between new players and vets (many with 5 to 10k hours over 10 years -- about the same time it takes to become a grandmaster in chess), why don't we have a concurrent B-league during TWL?

We probably don't have enough squads to support it, but you could just make it a sign-up league, 8 teams, randomly assign them to those teams and have 1 vet cap them. I think we can find 8 people willing to help out. Moreover they all play in all 3 leagues giving them a chance to play every ship, and avoid the newbie-crushing uber-nerds busy in TWL. Everyone gets playing time in regular season, then the best/most-active you start in the playoffs.

You could even increase involvement by making these 8-10 temporary B-league TWL teams farm teams under the TWL squads, giving the vets some incentive to help them out and train them. You then add the winner of all 3-leagues to it's own TWL History page. So if the winners are Dice B, Thunder B and Paladen B -- it's cool for those vets because despite having no say in the roster of those B-squads they probably casually helped out those teams with some guidance or whatnot -- and with the unlimited TWD roster you could even add them to your squad to help train them so your farm team has a better chance of winning and thus your squads name on the TWL History page of the B-league.
