I'll be working on the TWL Finals Hot or Not after I eat, with a recap of the 3 matches, as well as some Top 10 lists and end of season awards of some sort, maybe with some stats, too -- similar to what I've done in TWDT and TWL Hot or Nots of the past.

I'll go in order of the games played, so TWLJ, TWLB, and TWLD.

Should be up tonight, with some parts on Monday.

    Video

    Burn vs. Dudgeon
    50-33
    Round 1

Tiny (15-6) went Super Saiyan, leading Kess (10-6), Ease (10-7), Zidane (7-5), and Best (7-9) as Burn took the first round of the Finals by 17.

megaman89 (8-10) and Rough (7-10) were the only Dudgeon players approaching parity, as Commodo (5-10), Zizzo (5-10), Stayon (4-8), and maketso (1-2) all negged.

    HOT: Tiny
    NOT: Stayon

    ---

    Dudgeon vs. Burn
    50-32
    Round 2

Dudgeon came roaring back Round 2, slamming Burn with impunity in a complete rout, as Stayon (14-6) put in a Herculean effort, leading a similarly strong performance from Rough (14-10), ahead of megaman89 (7-4), Zizzo (7-6), and Commodo (5-6).

Best (10-10), Ease (8-10), and Zidane (8-10) played well, but Tiny (3-10), Kess (0-6), and Fahrenheit (1-4) combined for a 4-20 -- Yikes!

    HOT: Stayon
    NOT: Kess
NOT: Tiny. After going Super Saiyan round one, Tiny looked completely depleted round two. I was going to give you a Senzu bean to regain your strength, but I saw this sticker on your ship:

I understand why the sticker's warning us about the choking, but I don't know why it had to go out of its way to insult your manhood -- seems cruel and unnecessary.

    ---

    Burn vs. Dudgeon
    50-36
    Round 3

This game was closer than the score indicates, and was neck-and-neck until late when Burn pulled away. megaman89 (8-10) was solid for the third round in a row, as four of the five Dudgeon javs were close to 1:1, alongside Commodo (7-10), Zizzo (8-10), and Stayon (7-10), with Rough (0-6) being the deciding factor in a crucial Round 3 game, with maketso's (3-4) late sub not enough to salvage his play.

Ease looked like Galactus out there, destroying worlds with an insane 18-7, as his insatiable hunger for TWL medals continued unabated, as Kess (9-4) and Tiny (10-9) redeemed themselves for their second round woes, ahead of Best (7-10), who stayed alive on 9 from something ridiculous like 22-21 to almost the end of the game, surviving multiple dives to take him out, then diving maketso in the right corner while on 9 to take him out, juking a bomb, then bulleting to knock him out. It was either the dumbest or bravest thing I've ever seen, while Season 18 and 19 TWLJ MVP Zidane (3-6) went around waving to the crowd like Queen Elizabeth II -- in that he's jav royalty but he was mostly there in a ceremonial capacity.

    HOT: Ease

NOT: Rough (0-6). Rough put in one of the singularly worst TWLJ Finals performances of all-time, getting as many kills as pubbers in spec who'd wandered into ?go TWLJ wondering what "TWL" is.

If it's any consolation, you filled out your Sub Club card after getting subbed out of almost every key TWLJ playoff game you've ever played:

    Enjoy the free sandwich

(try to not choke on it.)

    HONORING THE FALLEN
    Stayon (Dudgeon)

According to multiple veteran javelins I asked, they felt Stayon was most deserving of this award. While Commodo led Dudgeon in kills and had the biggest contribution spread out over the season, and megaman89 was the most consistent in the playoffs, and both are worthy of the award, Stayon combined quality and quantity at a higher clip, including a 12-5 vs. Juans in regular season, 16-9 vs Fierce in the Semi-Finals, and 14-6 vs. Burn in the Finals. Nice work!

    Dudgeon vs. Burn
    15:00-13:48
    Round 1

Mikkiz (44-5) terred ahead of Commodo (3.0 RPD) and porkjet (2.7 RPD) as Dudgeon won a hard fought victory that was even until the very end as both squads traded leads throughout.

megaman89 (124-64) and JAMAL (115-57) led all spiders, as the veteran Dice duo played ahead of Stayon (97-66), Zizzo (72), Omega Red (47-30) and mcvicar.

The TWLB 19 defending champions came out in force, revitalized by the return of Mikkiz who was absent from their Semi-Finals encounter, clinching the W with strong undering and controlling the top bar, on top of recalcitrant cramming.

Ogron (38-3) terred in front of Zidane (2.9 RPD), ph (3.1 RPD), and Mattey (2.9 RPD). ph started while Mattey struggled with some lag issues, leaving Mattey with a 4-1 lead. When asked why he didn't care to play any further, ph responded, "because I already beat this game."

Hulk (107-56), hellkite (103-57), Ease (98-75), M_M God (94-73), and Kess (91-59) spidered in the loss for Burn.

    HOT: Mikkiz
    HOT: megaman89

NOT: Ogron (38-3). I had an atrocious double-warp near the end of the game that cost us, and I thought Mikkiz played better. I haven't double-warped in 4 months (x-radar drains your energy when EMP'd). Suffice to say I turned it on for Rounds 2 and 3.

    ---

    Burn vs. Dudgeon
    15:00-10:46
    Round 2

This was another tough contest that remained Tight going into the final third of the match, as Ogron (44-6) steadied the ship Round 2, terring ahead of Mattey (2.9 RPD) and Zidane (2.8 RPD), as Kess (108-53), hellkite (105-42), Ease (101-65), M_M God (102-66), and Hulk (70-56) edged out the victory with a strong late push.

Mikkiz (38-3) once again had a strong game, terring ahead of Commodo (3.0 RPD) and porkjet (2.6 RPD), with megaman89 (104-65) leading JAMAL (95-70), Stayon (92-68), Omega Red (83-61), and Zizzo (76-58) in ship 3, falling 4 minutes short of the W.

Burn clawed out of their 0-1 hole as Dudgeon looked to close, with strong play from everyone, especially Ease doing serious work in the coffin harassing the enemy team trying to break cram, as well as some really solid play under from Kess.

    HOT: Kess
    HOT: Ease

NOT: Zizzo (76-58). Zizzo does not main as an underspider, and I thought it a questionable decision to play himself over Mcvicar, who has been one of the best players at the positions these past few seasons.

    ---

    Burn vs. Dudgeon
    15:00-2:50
    Round 3

The final round of the TWLB Championships was a complete meltdown. Dudgeon won in a borderline meltdown last year against Thunder in a 15-4 lopping, but this was a total decimation as Burn romped their way to the TWLB title.

It's tough because we've all been on the wrong side of one of these, and momentum is a huge factor when two top-tier teams face off, especially since breaking elite squad's crams is a difficult task even in the best of circumstances, and can snowball quickly.

Ogron (22-1, 4 Teks) terred ahead of Mattey (3.0 RPD) and Zidane (3.1 RPD), who put on one of the best sharking performances in TWLB history, holding a 12-13 minute cram without a single shark gap. Kess (76-37), Ease (74-30), Hellkite (72-29), M_M God (67-32) and Hulk (68-32) showed no mercy in spider.

Mikkiz (18-12) terred ahead of porkjet (2.6 RPD), Commodo (2.5 RPD), and JAMAL (2.7 RPD) in shark. I heard of a few people criticizing Mikkiz, which I think is absurd, two of my teks went through 7 people to hit him and were not his fault. He tried a few port tricks to sneak into base once his team had failed to break over and over, which has often saved his team in the past, but we had all discussed this tactic before even Round 1 (as he's fucked us with it MANY times before) and were spamming "PORT" and intentionally sitting in cram and not pushing out, and I had my finger on the warp button (narrowly escaping one of the better ones while killing him). There was literally nothing he could have done different. Man is a legend in terr, and played fantastic entire Finals.

Zizzo (67-52), megaman89 (58-40), Stayon (56-34), Omega Red, JAMAL, and a too-late sub-in from Mcvicar spidered for Dudgeon.

    HOT: Mattey and Zidane

Big congrats to M_M God and Hellkite on finally winning a TWLB title. It was a long time coming and well deserved.

    HONORING THE FALLEN
    Mikkiz (Dudgeon)

Mikkiz was the best terrier in TWLB this season. He had scores of 24-0, 25-0, 25-5, 23-1, 35-6, 44-5, and 38-3, the latter two in the Finals. Last year's TWLB Champion led the league in Teks, with 18, including multiple clutch port traps, and was second in the league in KDA before the final round of the season, with an 11 KDA (it dropped to 7.5 after round 3 lol -- such is the life of a terrier. 7.5 would still be third best in the league.) He was great in the Finals as usual, and continues to be the gold standard in terr.

    HONORING THE FALLEN
    JAMAL (Dudgeon)

JAMAL had a stellar 117 KP30M this season, and missed leading the league by a mere 5 kills with a massive 888-467 due to being sharked early in Round 3 of the Finals or he would have easily finished first. megaman89 and Stayon were both excellent as well for their strong play over and under respectively, and both easily worthy of the award. The 4-time TWLB champion sharked four games and still led his team in kills, dropping a 116-82 in the Semi-Finals, and a 115-58 in the Finals. Kudos!

      Burn vs. Fierce
      50-43
      Round 1

After knocking out Burn's members two years in a row and winning three of the last four TWLD titles, there was a reckoning coming Fierce's way.

After getting sliced up by Fierce on Pandora during Season 18, then losing 3-2 in the Finals on Cobra last year, Best (15-8) proved to be the eponymous catalyst, as the the warbird who won the TWLD scoring race by 65 kills (!!) finally made the leap and beat them at every stage of the game, leading heart and soul of the team Raazi (11-9), who's been fantastic all season, alongside mainstays Weak (9-8), Mythril (8-9), and Ease (7-9), the latter two vestiges from Fierce's last defeat Season 17.

Fierce beat out Burn in the Quarter-Finals in a narrow 2-1 victory, and most prognosticators expected another close match. That proved to be the case, as Trench Wars' greatest modern TWLD dynasty lost a close 50-43 round 1, as legend Deez Nuts (12-10) continued his storied Finals play (no one has been better over the last 10 seasons), alongside Vash (11-10), who quietly has become one of Fierce's most reliable warbirds this season and impressed, and a surprise sub-in from Welt (6-6), who did well given he hadn't played since Week 1.

Unfortunately, poor play from Lasenza (7-10), Skepsis (6-10), and Apok (0-4) doomed them.

      HOT: Best
      NOT: Apok (0-4)

      ---

      Burn vs. Fierce
      50-42
      Round 2

Fierce wasn't going down without a fight, despite not being at their peak, as DEEZ NUTS (11-10) once again led his team alongside Lasenza (11-10), with solid play from Apok (8-10) who had a terribly unfortunate +1 lagout death on 9 late in the game (there was an abnormal amount of lag during the TWLD Final, with 8 total lagouts (4 for each team) -- especially in the second round), while Skepsis (6-10) and Welt's (5-10) poor scores amounted to the win differential.

Best (14-9) once again had his way with Fierce, finally silencing all the doubters and critics who said he couldn't get it done in the clutch, consistently playing aggressively on 9 and finding no opponent capable of stopping him this season, as Ease (10-8) and Weak (11-9) continued their solid play, with Mythril (8-10) going from superstar carry in S17 to Tim Duncan support role in S20, and Burn captain Racka making his playoff debut. He started shaky, as you could see the rust flying off his ship as he began 0-3, but settled in and found himself 4-5 and low deaths, and led the push late luring for others to clinch the W.

      HOT: Best
      NOT: Welt (5-10).

I'm being told we have a screenshot of Welt's positioning mid-game:

      HONORING THE FALLEN
      DEEZ NUTS (Fierce)

Deez Nuts had another strong season, going 111-79, posting a 10-7 average across 11 games. He put up team-high scores of 12-10, 11-10 in the Finals, after embarrassing Potenza in the Semi-Finals with 10-1, 11-5 scores. While Deez Nuts was the best player on his team this year, he was not the best player this season. But he is very likely the best warbird in the history of this game, dominating TWLD Finals well before Fierce even broke onto the scene.

I once culled through the TWLD Finals games with Ease, and Deez had the best Finals record of any player. He went 13-6, 14-10, 9-5, 11-8 in the S19 Finals. 18-10 and 11-8 in the S18 Finals. 12-5, 13-10, 8-10 in the S17 Finals. 6-4, 9-6 in the S16 Finals. 16-8, 12-8 in the S14 Finals. And that's just on Fierce! Hopefully we haven't seen the last of him in TWLD.

        TWL Finals MVPs

        JAV OF THE WEEK: Ease
Ease clinched his fourth straight TWLJ title, dropping a 10-7 in their Round 1 win, and a massive 18-7 Round 3 outing to clutch the title over a tough opponent in Dudgeon, book-ending a historic run with Zidane (who MVP'd Seasons 18 and 19) with Titanic MVP performances in Seasons 17 and 20. Kudos!

BASERs OF THE WEEK: Mattey and Zidane
Mattey and Zidane were on another level this week, with clockwork timing, vicious crams (including a 12 minute cram!), rock-solid 3.0 RPDs repping for spiders, and good awareness. I honestly think these guys are in a class of their own in shark these past 2-3 years. After playing for 5 years with these guys, there's no pairing I trust more or sit deeper in the cram with than these two.

        WB OF THE WEEK: Best
Best was lightning in a bottle TWL Finals Sunday, MVP'ing both rounds in a 2-0 rout of warbirding juggernaut Fierce, rampaging over them with 15-8, 14-9 scores, clinching his first TWLD title. Great work!

              TWDT

I will be running TWDT after Christmas, with a draft date of Sunday, January 10, 2016. Any veterans are welcome to message Turban or myself if interested in Captaincy.

TWDT 2014 and TWDT 2015 were a lot of fun (you can check out the TWDT Finals Hot or Not here: http://forums.trenchwars.org/showthr...-or-NOT-FINALS).

I'm giving out formal invitations to current TWDT Champions, Stayon and Commodo, as well as Finals Runner-Up Zidane, along with Ease and maketso, who were also strong captains and did well.

I enjoyed capping in 2013, and if there's a shortage I'll cap a team. I'll remove myself as cap if we get 8 good veteran captains before TWDT starts.

Active former Champions Hulk and Pressure are also invited to cap, but there are plenty of qualified candidates, so please don't be shy about asking. Thanks!

              2016 Captains:

              Cres (accepted)

              Stayon (invited)
              Commodo (invited)
              Zidane (will accept if needed)
              maketso (invited)
              Mean Gene (accepted)
              Hulk (invited)
              Ease (unlikely)
              Ogron (accepted)

                Honoring the Fallen

Every week I'll be highlighting a player from a squadron eliminated from competition in their respective league. Here's a recap of those who fell these past three weeks.

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Jones (Vikings)

Jones ended his TWLD season leading the entire league in Kills Per Game, with a 12.33 average over 9 games, as well as the record for most kills in a round, with 20, while posting the second most kills up to this point, with an amazing 111-77 record. All this while on one of the worst warbirding squads in the league. Kudos!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Racketeer (Paladen)

Racketeer went out with a bang, burning LEGO for 16 in a tough 50-48 Round 3 loss, putting up an impressive 87-71, 30 kills ahead of anyone else on Paladen, and one of only two players on his squad to go positive this season, with a solid +16. His 87 kills were 15th best in the league despite the handicap of playing on a bad team, and he proved he very much belongs in TWLD. Nice work!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Turban (LEGO)

Turban finished third in kills in TWLD, with a 129-120 record and playing every game for the undermanned and poorly helmed LEGO squad, who, along with Flew (Runner-up to this award with a respectable 107-115 record, including a 17-7 vs. Dudgeon in Week 3) willed LEGO past Paladen in a Round 3, 50-48 win last weekend to keep their season alive and played all 13 games. Stalwart effort!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Zizzo (Dudgeon)

Zizzo finished fourth in TWLD in kills, quietly putting together a fantastic season, notching an impressive 128-121 record over 13 games, including 15-9, 13-8 performances to take out Vikings in the Quarter-Finals, and 10-10, 11-10 against championship contenders Burn. Nice work!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Ricko (Cobra)

Ricko had an incredibly strong season, leading the league in KDA, with the second-best Kills Per Game average of 11.23, and finishing fourth in kills, with a 146-94 stat line. Ricko went positive during every game in the regular season, and went 11-10, 10-10, 8-10 against Burn. That 8-10 was his lowest score of the season... the man didn't have a single bad game all year. Insane!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Iron Survivor (Potenza)

Iron Survivor finished second in the league in kills, putting up an impressive 151-110 record over 14 games, also good for the third best kills per game average. He had an impressive streak, going positive 10 games in a row to start the season, including 12-5, 16-6 scores versus Cobra in the Winner's Semi-Final. He cooled off against Fierce and Burn, only going positive once, but never had a score worse than 7-10 the entire season, making him a model of consistency.

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Turban (LEGO)

Turban had a monster season for LEGO, leading the league in kills with a ridiculous 125-89 record, as well as kills per game (12.5), and +/-, going +36, on top of notching the only 20 kill game this season (the next highest is 17), doing everything humanly possible to keep LEGO's TWLJ season alive. No one on LEGO had over 48 kills this season. Truly a titanic effort. Well done, sir.

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                euforia (You2be)

euforia had a great season on You2be, finishing 4th in the league in kills, with a 98-99 record, averaging 10 kills per game, and the second-highest score in a TWLJ game this season, with 17. He had almost double the amount of kills as the next player on You2be, leading the team all season in javelin, and put in solid scores in their must-win playoff games. Nice work!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Trasher (Cobra)

Neymar and Zazerick had the best regular seasons for Cobra, but neither showed when it mattered in a must-win game vs. Juans to keep their season alive, so it came down to Trasher (81-87), Shadowmere (97-108), and Wax (91-96). Shadow was on the verge of breaking out as a superstar jav last year, so this season is quite the regression, Wax is a longtime veteran jav and was solid but not spectacular, while Trasher is primarily a baser, yet contributed all season, then performed in the clutch, leading his squad with a 12-9 in their Round 2 win, and a stalwart 11-10 in their Round 3 loss, narrowly losing to a talented Juans squad, making him my choice as Cobra's standout player in TWLJ. He was their best jav when it mattered the most. Congrats!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Okyo (Potenza)

Okyo was a complete monster for Potenza in TWLJ this season, finishing 5th in the league in kills with 123, including a Herculean 16-10 this week, and 12-10 and 11-10s last week to knock LEGO out of contention, continuing his dominance in both warbird and javelin. Kudos!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Tom Juan (Juans)

This was a tie, as both Tom and Healt finished with exactly 153 kills in 16 games. Tom Juan finished second in the league in kills, with an impressive 153-123 record, leading Juans to a respectable 4th place finish in TWLJ. He went 12-8, 14-10, 11-8 in knocking out Cobra in the playoffs last weekend, and had a team high 11-10 in their final round of the season vs. Fierce. Nice work!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Healt (Juans)

Healt also finished second in the league in kills, with a 153-128 record in 16 games. Healt MVP'd Round 3 to knock out Cobra in the playoffs with a 13-8, and had Juans most impressive single-round performance of the season, with a Herculean 16-5 Round 2 win against Burn the Playoffs -- Hot stuff coming through!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Revered (Fierce)

Revered finished #1 in kills at the time of his elimination, 12 kills ahead of the pact despite playing several less games, finishing with an incredible 165-123 in 14 games! Wowza. He was a total beast in the playoffs as well, going 13-8 and 16-7 to knockout Potenza, then dropping an earth-shattering 18-9 to take down Juans, while posting strong 12-10, 9-8, 10-10 scores against Dudgeon, whom they fell to in the Loser's Bracket Final, as Revered led Fierce to 3rd place in TWLJ. Amazing season, congrats!

Nice work!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                AFRI (Paladen)

AFRI was easily the standout baser on Paladen this season, leading his team in kills in every game in spider, and amassing an impressive 101 KP30M this season. Managing to average over 100 kills a game on such a bad team is an impressive feat, especially given how tough most of their matches were. Good job!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Steep (Vikings)

Steep was Vikings best spider this season, finishing 16th out of over 100 in kills, with a 468-273 record and 104 kills per game, including a team-high 125-86 against Cobra in the second round of the playoffs. He was a veteran presence on Vikings all season, and was a big part of their success. Kudos!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                warportal (Vikings)

warportal anchored the Vikings line in the toughest ship to play and under the most scrutiny, showing to 100% of matches and keeping many of them competitive despite being out-gunned. He posted a 37-7 in their upset against Fierce, leading them to a 15-12 victory despite his spiders being outkilled by 50 (often the mark of a great terring performance.) He wasn't flashy and he wasn't perfect, but without him Vikings success wouldn't have been possible. Vikings clearly agreed, as more than one lobbied me for him to get this award. Nice work!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Sphinx (Fierce)

Sphinx showed to every week, finishing 5th in the league in kills, and leading his squad with a 610-322 record, and was their most consistent spider (alongside Apricot), on top of playing well in their matches against Burn and LEGO in the playoffs. Kudos!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                DOWNFALL (Fierce)

When it comes to sharks, Downfall led the entire lead in Teks with 9, nearly averaging a 3.0 RPD and playing in all 9 of Fierce's games, with strong agressive showing in every one of them. Not only that, but he also led the entire league in kills, with 102. Excellent season! This was a tough call picking only one special, as Everett was great all season as well, but DOWNFALL led too many offensive categories to ignore.

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Trasher (Cobra)

This was a pretty easy one to decide, as Trasher led the entire league in kills by a significant margin with a mind-boggling 893-364. Holy! Not only that, he was second in the league in Teks, with 11, and led Cobra to a third place finish in TWLB, alongside Megalo and skatarius (who finished second and fourth, respectively). The TWLB champion once again showed himself matchup-proof, dropping ridiculous numbers regardless of opponent.

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                Cranium (Cobra)

Cobra got significantly better the second Cranium was added to their line, especially with menelvagor not playing his best of late. While neither are in their primes, Cranium has always been one of the elite sharks in the zone, of which there are very few, and proved a big factor in their success in eliminating LEGO and putting up significant time versus Dudgeon. Practicing or not, Cran is a huge asset who makes a world of difference in base.

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                NL>Trigger (LEGO)

NL>Trigger had a fantastic season in terrier, although he was unfortunately unable to show this week (I considered naming Markmrw instead, who made big strides in shark this season). Despite being a Top 5 underspider in the game, his talent in ship 5 and Zizu's inability to show propelled him into anchoring LEGO's line, where he posted a 50-8 average, the most kills per game and 4th best KDA, with scores of 36-2, 48-8 (vs. Burn), 30-6 (vs. Dudgeon), 41-8, and 52-9 in their Playoff game vs. Fierce. He really flashed his talent against the two best squads, keeping LEGO in both their games against Burn and Dudgeon, and you couldn't ask for much more from a terr. Nice work!

                HONORING THE FALLEN
                TJ Hazuki (LEGO)

TJ Hazuki played every game this season for LEGO and finished third in kills, posting a 749-571 tally, and finished 2nd in Teks among spiders, with 11. More importantly, he was pushy, selfless, and played for the team and never for his rec, and along with Turban helped turn LEGO's over into a competent force. He led his team in kills in their final playoff game, rattling off 120 kills. Kudos!

Kudos!

TWLJ, TWLB, TWLD are up, along with Honoring The Fallen and Players of the Week.

If you have a minute, be sure to pm or ?message Turban a thank you for running TWL for the second season in a row, he's put in a ton of his time organizing the league, finding hosts, putting up stats, etc. and it's a generally burdensome and thankless task. Big thanks to him and all the mods who hosted this season!

Top 10 List and Stats to follow on Monday and Tuesday. Enjoy!

Thanks claus for adding these hot or nots, I'm sure they took a lot of your time and just know that a lot of people appreciate them.

congrats to Burn for triple crowning, their players showed up when they were needed most

also it's funny to see the league that most (i think) had more clear favorites was ld but burn shut down fierce pretty hard 2-0

I have lost my faith in karma. Even though, 90% of your roster is complete toolbags everything STILL goes your way, everytime.
