TWL Hard lock Past Sunday

I had requested the rules to be updated on the main website since last year, but alas no one has stepped up to do the simple copy paste work. I hope you do realize that according to the website Guero would also be ineligible as the soft lock would take effect after last match of Round 3, thus even then the right move would be to allow him back on his old roster as otherwise everyone would have the right to request a squad move. You can't show favoritism towards one player the decision affects everyone. It is similar to how we do not allow name changes without a waiting period as there would be too many people requesting for their names to be changed and that is honestly a real hassle to fix.

now as for your second suggestion of allowing players currently on non-TWL rosters to join and compete on other squads .. well, it's a fine suggestion and there's almost no harm in taking that path. There are still teams out there that could use additional depth to help their rosters compete on a higher level. I had made a similar suggestion for last season where bottom-tier teams, who were struggling at the time, would get to recruit new players to their roster without punishment to allow them to compete on a higher level after the hard locks. Unfortunately the top tier teams did not like that idea at all even though it would have increased the overall competition, claiming it would "ruin the integrity of the league" while sitting on their overly stacked rosters.

my two cents:

guero left dynasty on hardlock and was probably trying to join a new TWL team asap, I think this should be taken into consideration. Honestly I dont think anyone thinks LEGO has a chance to win LD and TW benefits from having guero active/playing imo.

I would ask all the captains of TWL and if they give the OK we can make an exception for him since he clearly tried to join a new team b4 hardlock. I would say if 75% of the caps say its ok, then allow

Look, I understand the point here; prevent great people to stack on 2 squads before playoffs. However, what if you were on a squad struggling to reach playoffs and suddenly this rival squad is aquiring great players despite the fact that Hard Lock is in place? Rules are there for a reason. What if people like vys who was unhappy about not getting a starter position in Cobra suddenly decided he wanted to help e.g Paladen in this case just because? Would he be able to join Paladen now because "it doesn't affect the top squads"?

Guero made a mistake about leaving and not realizing what hard-lock means, I mean, english isn't his first language so I feel for the guy.

On the other hand, he broke the rules, abandoned a squad that was in less favor to reach playoffs. I am not going to get into why this happened because I am not on Dynasty, I don't know how things were there. I certainly do not know what's in Guero's mind either. Personally, I think the guy just wants to play on an active squad.

I'm personally leaning against the notion that he can rejoin Dynasty and play TWL there. Like Mark said

@Jones - as someone who was on dynasty chat Sunday basically a few people were debating whether or not to go to other squads before hardlock. Some people did it early in the day, looks like Guero waited last minute. that being said idk how much English he knows but we were all talking about the hardlock and I think there's a very slim chance that he was actually unaware of the rules.

Can't check on TWD to see when he actually applied to LEGO but I mean, there's a full day between his leaving Dynasty and joining LEGO.

But at the end of the day, when you look at Guero, he's just a dude who wants to play subspace. He's not a troll, he's not some dude who gave some ultimatum to be a starter, or anything like that. I can't act all high and mighty here because I myself was totally pm'ing people on Force and debating whether or not to find a new squad before hardlock. I don't know if he's going to be allowed to play on LEGO or forced back on Dynasty, but the one thing I think we should avoid here is kicking him from the league altogether.

Yeah, you make a very good point, and I'm inclined to disavow my previous position and agree, I didn't think it out as well as you did. Letting him back on Dynasty (if they'll have him) seems like a good solution.

It's not about setting a precedent, the rules are there to be guidelines for a case-by-case examination of events when they occur. This isn't going to give every troll the right to now leave and apply to whatever squad they want. One player fell through the cracks and the league is at a point where every player counts, and here we have one case of one person who missed a hardlock by one day.

Used to be, the rules were enforced more strictly because the leagues were booming and every week there'd be some scandal or barrage of appeals and the usual cadre of trolls making life hard for the ops and the admins. So when faced with alot of stuff to deal with, using the rules and enforcing them 100% was the best way to bring some order to the chaos. Now that TWL has a smaller population overall, I think the admins are able to now focus on issues and events as they happen, like they did with Pavement.

For me to be honest u should removed that block .... if u have your best line squad u should win it without no excuse..

More important thing of all these comments is check Turban's post about updating rules and everyone just vote and talk to twld captains to be in agreement.

To be honest i don't even think if i were able to play all twl season but i would like to play a game for fun... Glad to see old good friend and enemy's alive have fun.

Allow him to join Lego's roster. He's not joining a contender, but the move to Lego strengthens the league and the competition. It may not be fair to Spark, Paladen, and whomever else, but I'm all for it come playoff time. #EveryoneIsAWinner

jones summed it up pretty nicely. hes not a newbie so he clearly knew he was risking it. i say let him rejoin dynasty and have the ability to play right away for them like nothing happened for the benefit of the game. vets should not be rewarded for hopping last minute and it does affect lower tier squads.
