Why 1 Round?

Not sure if this has been discussed before...but im new to TWLD so here goes:

Why are TWLDs only 1 round? If its some type of time restraint then i guess i understand...otherwise it seems that the DD best of 3 system would be much nicer.

The rounds dont take very long, (especially when ur getting beat down 50-35 by egyptian =P) and to me it seems pretty shitty to wait an entire week looking forward to another "quickie" league match thats over in 20-25 mins or something...they are just too short. if best of 3 isnt possible, what about doing to 12 deaths or 15 or something...i dunno, maybe try to get them up to 30+ minutes like a basing match atleast. its like when you were a little kid and you waited 2 hours in line at disneyland to ride toad's wild ride and it only lasted 2 minutes.

everyone agrees that 3 rounds is a better and more fair way to play, however, there is simply not enough time to do this...

Thats why in the playoffs, where we have reduced the teams into 8 from each league, there will be a best of 3 situation O_o

I don't really like the 1 round thing myself, but with squads that are in all 3 leagues it can get to be quite a time commitment. As long as playoffs stay 3 rounds I"m happy.

here's a random thought that came to me from what escalate was saying. . .

what about, instead of speccing people at 10 deaths, play an unlimited death 30 minute game.

it'd take the emphasis off of hunting specific people and put it more onto teamwork and ratios

yeah, i can understand that changing to best of 3 would mean games would last 2.5-3.5 times as long with all the breaks in between rounds, etc... so it would be quite an extreme change as far as how much time is taken up per match...

but how about just increasing the number of deaths by a few? maybe to 12 or 15? and this could be done without any change to the structure or strategy involved in playing twld. try to get the matches closer to a nice 30 minute game maybe. maybe this would be more feasible. i think something should be done to increase the game length unless the current length is already taking up the maximum allowed by the current time constraints....its hard for me to imagine that being the case....cuz they are just really damn short.

i also like rand's idea and think it should be tested out.

please don't call an idea of mine silly and enforce it by saying it is not well "argumented"

i'm talking about a different type of teaming, and no, you don't necessarily even have to team to hunt somebody. as is right now, 5vs5, when one of your opponents gets to 8 or 9 deaths and the rest are around 4, who are you going to shoot.

whatever i proposed last night would lose any emphasis on eliminating people and put it into staying with your team and getting any type of kill advantage you can.

i think that's what i mean anyways. i came up with that idea late last night and i'm responding to it just after waking up, lemme think about it and get back to it a little later on in the day when my head is clear.

Yeah, the unlimited death 30 minute game concept has some potential. First of all, it gives room for a more accurate fight; if, for example a squad starts off bad for who knows what reason, it probably wont have time to straighten out or make a comeback in a quick round to 10.

In a 30 minute game, both squads have ample time to straighten out into a game that would accurately reflect their strengths.

Game takes on a new structure but retains the key aspects of scoring by kill/death ratio, but in a more accurate form. In rounds to ten deaths, a squad is limited to how well it can perform.

Take Rampage for instance. Even though they've won every single game, their score is limited to + 50 kills per each round, therefore hindering the squad from being able to demonstrate it's true strength. In a 30 minute unlimited death game, the squads alone determine how many kills they can accumulate within that time frame, whilst minimizing their own losses.

Sure this new concept may breed certain negative methods of play etc., but the current match concept has it's flaws as well - the question is, do the current flaws outweigh ones that may arise with the inception of a new match concept?

This revamping would loosen many restrictions and create favorable grounds for new tactics and concepts to be integrated into the gameplay, and overall is a concept which has more growth potential than the current restricted method; over time it may keep the interest of the league players further and provide interesting new opportunities and branch-outs to keep the competition of the zone fresh.

might also be cool, with the 30 minute thing, to have unlimited subs. ie, a line change system. squads submit their roster of present players at the time the game starts, and anybody submitted can be subbed in (late players can't play).

twl probably won't be changed, but in the time between this twl and the next, a tournament in this form might be kinda fun
