Sharking with/against a cram.

Ok, so, this makes me think have you even seen a league shark really shark? They die when the other shark has just attached OR when the shark is just attaching. Not when the other shark has just died. They DO know how to count to 5...

Mining while defending cram. If the deefnding team do not have a jav I mine in and under the spot which is surrounded by walls from 3 sides. Might get a lucky sharpkill but mostly it prevents other terrier from taking cover in there. It also might emp the other team or just give them a little dmg. Naturally they use up 1-3 reps from the attackers as well. The bad side of mining here is that it takes too long. If done at a bad time the defending sharks might go out of sync (especially if attacking team has a jav).
Otherwise I try not to mine when defending. Exeptions: The places where the team is just about to break the cram I might take a chance and mine a little higher. You might tk the whole own team or then you might get a 8fer of the other guys. Too risky to be done all the time but if the defenders are just about to lose fr I mine higher and higher.

I'll just make a few comments because I don't want to let out all of my elite secrets.

For one thing, almost any mine you lay in the mid can be used as a weapon against your team when you are cramming. It's not difficult to 2x rep a mine, but usually the slight lag differences between computers means that the mine will go a totally different way on some people's screens.

Second of all it's not always the best idea to wait until the other shark attaches before you go out to kill yourself. Usually if I am starting to get out of sync with the other guy, I'll intentionally take a bit longer/shorter in dying to get it back into good timing. Plus, as long as the other guy isn't scratching his ass or something, you can tell when he is going to attach, so you don't always have to wait for him (unless there is a situation where you need to make 100% sure that there is always a repel waiting for your team).

And finally, try to work with your fucking partner.

After about a year of hardcore shark experience, I have developed the following for sharking:

*Basing sharking - Mining on Defence

Personally, I feel that the best formation for mining is a fence between the "L" in mind and bottom of base.

This forces two things:

1. The team (Or at least the terrier) must travel up the middle, thus allowing the preliminary cram to take full effect upon the team.

2. This also forces the sharks to either rep or risk losing thier escape for their terrier. This is effective to slow the enemy team down for valuable seconds.

It is doubly effective if each shark takes one side.

*Basing sharking - Mining on attack/flagroom battle

Personally, I feel that this takes both skill and experience. Pointers:

1. Never mine in a open space or near flag.

2. Always mine in the direction that you are approaching them so they run into your mines.

3. Emps are rarely used and it is better to sacrifice for repels than to get an emp.

As for shark repping, keep one thing in mind:

Your job is to protect your team. This means your reps should get in the way of line of fire and preferably the flag and enemy mines. When breaking cram, just get in way and rep with a orderly 1-2-3.

1. Don't mine
2. Guard your team
3. Don't try to stay alive
4. Rep 300ms before a bomb hits

I think coojmas mines might be useful if put before the attackers even get into lower base, but if the defending team already is in a pure cramming position the attacking sharks don't even need to rep those. And if they rep them it's easy to aim the mines towards the outer walls where they do no good. Too far for straight damage/emp and the sharp domes from far away so the terr has plenty of time to warp/dodge.

i mine alot

there is no "right" way to shark ...just do what works for you, i hate reading "tactics" threads because half the stuff in it dont work for me...i hate being the guy who dosen't mine or bomb and just sits back and reps his way to a 3-130 rec. personally i use up my reps near the terr and then i go attack the other terr, but i always push outward and mine as people try to pass me

Sometimes it's funny to shark: The opposing terr is a bit newer, and he's used to sharks not mining, you can get him 5 times in open before he starts noticing the pattern. Of course, this number is reduced by the team noticing
