On a more serious note...the high stars getting benched should try out chaos zone and get in shape for next season of their leagues.

I don’t really care what you do anymore. I have the feeling we might be approaching the end of the inclusive twdt no matter what due to activity. Turning twdt into basically an uncapped league will certainly boost the game quality but it will hurt twdt in the long run, imo.

edit: also just to say, I still haven’t played a round because I can’t fit into a lineup and I’d still prefer not to see the cap raised mid season.

It's far too late to change star cap despite it meaning that several good players are essentially forced to spectate most matches. I feel quality of games has mostly been fine at least when comparing to previous TWDT seasons. It is important to keep DT inclusive and let lower rated players play their games.

I likely won't be able to fit myself to a working warbird lineup and that's absolutely fine.

This is all due to about 8 players rated by sum other ppl at 10* in 1-3 ships, who dislike this existing TWDT star cap and have left.

What on earth r we ganna do, in a summer TWDT with 115+ signups, an FA with 19 playirs, and another latir in da seasin????

i believe it's obvi we have to leave star cap set for remainder of szn since we already started. but we should consider a higher star cap when we are team deficient, 6 teams or less.

players who are more active in their respective leagues are forced to bench and thus this calamity ensues. if u have 8 teams, most of these active veterans will play and crying will diminish.

also none of u fuckers were online for the two months before TWDT even started, if y'all care so much about playing. keep the zone alive. it was me, spastic and accuracy sitting around pub keeping long winded basing games going.

I disagree with this mantra of “twdt is to allow noobs to play.” That is definitely not the purpose of twdt.

twdt is there for balanced quality competitive games and to give lower stars a chance to prove themselves but NOT at the expense of sacrificing quality games and putting top players on the bench.

Low stars that are getting force added to these games right now are not always people trying to make a name for themselves but simply meet the need to have a low star player to make the star cap work.

Just my two cents and I’m sure a majority would agree that aren’t thinking selfishly for their own gain.

i think it is about the first part and it is about the second part.

twdt should be about allowing newbs to play, unfortunately there are no newbs.
which feeds into your second pt, if we had newbs who wanted to play and learn in a respective league, then it would make sense. but we have no new influx of players.

it becomes tough cause then the v few who do, are kept in pub because they don't get picked in twbd ( for example ). this is an eternal existential struggle. the dueling leagues see a lot more new players have opportunities to play than basing does.

I don't actually have strong feelings one way or another on this, but I will say that the star cap is bad when even the mid-tier players have to be benched because the star cap is too low to add anyone but guys like Cyclone into games or to force a baser that hates wb into a wb game, or vice versa, simply to meet the cap.

At this stage, most people play the ships they play because they find them enjoyable and others not so much, not because they're itching to break into a new league. Also, these really low star caps do NOT work when there are no low rated players to help fix lineups to begin with. How many 6*s even are there total signed up? Without looking, I'm going to guess it's less than 6, meaning less than one per team. Out of those 5 or less, I'm going to guess maybe one or two are even active players. The math doesn't work.

If there are multiple people benched per team that doesn't mean the starcap is too low. It just means there should be more teams. Starcap is to keep the teams balanced

I agree with this, there are benchers among top, mid and low vp players, nothing to with them being overrated, just that there are so many people online during games, that someone has to stay in spec. Adding higher cap means more benchers among mid/low, less on top. It is especially visible in jav/wb games, with 10-12 ppl showing for game only for 5 to get gametime.
Still, I would not blame league ops at all. For some weird reason, signups were really slow and then suddenly last week 20+ ppl showed up. It was way too late to redo everything. I have absolutely no idea why people would do that, but it sort of fucked this league a bit.
Then again, we are now entering July, majority of people activity usually drops in July so maybe this issue will solve on its own.

I want to take a moment to thank Dwopple and Racka for stepping up to run this draft tournament as I've seen way too much hate/anger directed towards them for taking on a VOLUNTEER position that keeps the game we all love alive.

If you don't agree with the way stuff is being run, step up and volunteer to help for future/events and leagues. Go to the trenchwars website and apply to be staff, or pitch and try to run an event like Ogrons recently failed star core cup thing.

The purpose of DT is to give more players an opportunity to play, it also gives old players a chance to return and compete on some level.

If you want a stacked team and high quality competitive games as a 10*, you have TWL. Mid and low level players don't have this.

If you didn't sign up in time or volunteer to be a captain because you were busy or thought the league would flop, and now you want in on the action, tough shit for you.

It's a summer league & the rosters have a lot of depth for this reason, coordinate with equally ranked players on your team to see their availability and go enjoy some sunshine.
