  • Week 3 Overachiever + Random Roll Winner

As previously stated last week this award is geared towards lower star players performing above their current star value. After looking through all the box scores this week these are the players who had stand out performances.

First up we have Maketso. Maketso racked up an impressive record in warbird of 30-13 overall this week as an 8.5* player. He jumped all the way up to the #2 overall warbird spot this week after those performances. He managed to snag one MVP along with 2 KO's along the way.

Next nominee is Tripin. Tripin is a 7* javelin that managed to drop an extremely solid 21-9 between 2 rounds this week. His team went 2-0 in jav this week while Tripin locked up 2 KO's over both rounds.

The last nominee for the week is Lee. Lee is a 7* spider who managed to go 150-104 between 2 rounds while his team went 2-0 this week in basing. He clutched 3 TeK's along the way to both victories.

I have to comment as I see the poll results right now state that he is leading the race.

I love my boy Lee but I don't think that is impressive enough to snatch the overachiever award. There was actually another eg 7* player GumGy who went 149-94 (3 TeKs) playing under and his team won 2 matches. Lee has experience from 4+ seasons while GumGy has entered TW within a year.

We could also look at the scoreboxes to see how other spiders in each team performed compared to the 7* player.

      Game 1
      Lee 84-63
      Saiyan 143-47 (MVP)
      Hypocrit 115-58
      Lockdown 127-57

      Game 2
      Lee 66-41
      Saiyan 85-34
      Lockdown 105-42
      Hypocrit 73-39

      Game 1
      GumGy 73-41
      Hellkite 75-33 (MVP)
      TPZ 76-46
      Henry Saari 77-10
      dreamwin 77-50

      Game 2
      GumGy 76-53
      hellkite 72-50
      TPZ 80-50
      Henry Saari 74-30
      dreamwin 87-55

Maketso (8.5*) went 18-10 and 12-3 and almost carried the team to 2 victories.

Tripin(7*) went 11-3 and 10-6 which is way more than expected of a 7*.

Regardless of how you look at things, right now the current poll results indicate this is more of a popularity contest than actual reward for overachieving.
Season 12 champion TWLD / TWLJ

      Season 10 champion TWDT-J (C)

All 3 candidates are worthy this time, very difficult to choose.
I suggested Lee in a previous week, so it's good to see him make an appearance.
Also agree with dreamwin, I played under with gumgy and he performed great, he could easily have been the basing overperformer. Maybe next time.
I also thought hypocrit's 4v1 win might feature, an impressive win regardless of rating.
If this was a 3 division poll I'd give it to maketso because he played great in all three divisions (maybe there should be one of those next time). 18 kills vs Racka's team is still nuts (not enough to carry me though rip). He's quite a bit behind in the poll though so I won't waste my vote.
I remember discussing Tripin's great performance after the games, so he gets my vote this week. (also because I don't like beam and he voted Lee)

Wow, didnt expect to be nominated, thanx for this, took a bit to get going in both games, so felt rusty, as I have been not as active as before in recent months and just came back from 2 week vacation, but definitely enjoyed the weekend games, especially second one. Very impressive performances from maketso, tripin and also gumgy

              An 8.5* performing isn't overachieving.

Lee's recs are not impressive and as dreamwin noted there are better basing candidates.

Tripin gets my vote for lack of better options. 21-9 over two rounds is pretty darn good for a 7*.

8.5* players aren't necessarily expected to go 30-13 in a ship that isn't even their primary ship, how is that not over achiever worthy? I don't think any of the 10* warbirds put up numbers like that this week

RaCka if he were a 7.5 I'd agree with you. It doesn't matter what his primary league is, he was rated 8.5* for warbird.

Its an achievement for sure. I'm not diminishing his performance. But the spirit of the overachiever award is to recognize low star players who performed well above their star cap. Maketso just had a great weekend.

Hmm.. I’d say I have a strong case as well.. 8.5 spider who plays the ship once a year would be considered overachieving imo.. 138-62 with 3 TeKs including the game winning TeK on turbans headtop lol.. I’d strongly say I got snubbed for a nomination but w/e heh

This is the problem with only looking at the recs. Everyone in our games can attest to Lee making HUGE plays and playing his role to perfection.

Very strong points. That was a hell of a performance. The only problem is you could be found attacking from the roof in the 2nd game. Dfkm...

While the 18 kill game was strong performance from maketso, he has been underrated for quite sometime considering he really is one of the few players in the game that can legit play every ship (I have never really seen him shark to be fair but rumour has it he can).

Lee has certainly improved since his days on Accuracy. It really is hard to shine from under in spider, which I assume is where he is being put, but hey you gotta start somewhere.

Tripin, who is slowly becoming a solid 3 division player, but those 2 Jav matches were not exactly challenging matches considering the scores were 50 - 27 and 50 - 31.

In a rush to get ready for work I voted for Tripin before getting a chance to look at the games, and would change vote for maketso if could.
