Actually, the use of w/ is 100% legitimate in the field of stenography, as are many other forms of shorthand. Don't go grouping w/ with the likes of wtf/lol/rotflmao/etc. It doesn't belong in the "slang for lazy people" category.

Ahh Leet Speak.. Wish someone would write a virus that would prevent
the use of that. On the bright side.. lookup the squad NTF.
It's headache worthy. My favorite thing so far when speaking to any
of them is to completely spellout every character of their name.
Like:
Hello Undatusevened left bracket plus ntf plus right bracket.

From what TthreempTrthreedollarsign said on chat one day, their captain
makes them all convert their names to that when they join the squad.
I bet it's kind of like tear gas or to blind enemies with confusion when
they see the roster. While you're trying to figure out what the name
says you get shot.
