The hardest game ever created

i think that the hardest video game ever created (that can be beaten) is one called r-type 3. its a little spaceship game for snes, and its really fun. but the thing is... ITS SO FREAKING HARD AND IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT. At one point i actually thought i could beat this game, so me my brother and some of my friends decided we would beat it. well anyways, 4 days later (you cant save and quit in this game) were on about the 8th level. its so insanely hard. every boss battle on the harder levels would take an average of about 3 hours to beat, wed get like 200 gameovers each boss. then on the 5th straight days of the snes not being shut off, my mom goes and turns it off and ruins it for everyone. Now I dont think I will ever beat it... sigh i wonder what would have happened.
does anyone own or has anyone played/beaten this game?

I beat Ghosts n' Goblins on NES a few times when I was like 8 years old.

Battletoads is only hard because of those fucking fast sidescrolling levels where it is impossible to get by unless you memorize the level.

Yeah, I can't get past level four unless I use those warps. Mostly because I blow all my lives and stuff on level 3. But seriously, BT is MUCH easier than Fester's quest.

i find Nethack to be really difficult. i've been playing for a while and i can't get much further than medusa's lair. she's ez and everything but i never make it much further.

Rofl! The hardest game I've ever played must be R-type something on the old gameboy. I came to the stage with the ugly alien turtles, then they raped me again and again, until I threw my gameboy into the wall...

I've beaten R-type 3, but that was on SNES emulator on the comp.

I just never could be the last boss on Blaster Master for the nes,, infact i think i only even got to him 2 or 3 times..bob i think if you spend enough time googleing it or doing your internet research you will find the secret that R-type 3 kept hidden from you.

hint: pause the game just as you throw a grenade, it'll continously damage the boss while it is paused and it will die when you unpause it.
