MP3 Player

I am going to be getting an MP3 player and I don't know which to get.

I have been looking around on the internet and there are a couple which I am considering

Creative MuVo 2 4GB
RabbitRapist has bought one of these but has yet to get it so he can't tell me what he thinks of it. Has anyone got this or know anyone who has it and would you/they recommend it?


Archos Gmini SP 20GB MP3 player & Data Storage
This one seems pretty good - The only problem being I can't find that many reviews and also I can't find the dimensions (height, width, weight etc..) anywhere. I don't want to buy this and find out it is a big chunky thing. Anyone have one of these or has seen one?

Never used any of the ones you have listed, but I use an iPod 10GB, I rate it pretty highly (although it's not cheap). As far as I know, it's the smallest hard-drive based player available, which is mainly why I got it, about the size of a pack of cards. Any bigger than that and it becomes annoying to carry.

Actually that XClef one looks pretty good, and it has twice the battery life of an iPod, I'd consider that one if it's decent quality and not too large.

I've been thinking about getting an iPod, so when i was doing some research, I didn't see any of the 3 you listed, which is weird. But one that really got my attention was the Rio Karma, so check that one out.

The main reason I'll probably get an iPod is because it holds phone numbers and addresses, has a calendar and alarm clock, and even a couple little games. I was originally looking to get a Palm, but I'd only use the basic functions, so an iPod is way better. If any of the other ones that you've looked at has some of these functions, let me know.

Yes it hold phone numbers and addresses, and has a calender, but you can't edit any of these functions on the unit itself, you have to use your comp. I guess if you only need to look things up and not change anything, it's fine, but I find it annoying. You can also download all your emails from Outlook (using a 3rd party free program) and store it on the player, but again, you can't edit or type a reply.

Yeah, but that just means you have to keep your contacts list current on your computer. Obviously it's not as functional as a palm, but you can hold 20gigs of music, so it's a trade-off.

I don't see any reason to upload your emails to it.

Uploading emails comes in handy if you have several hundred unread messages in your inbox and you'd rather look at them later.

Just so you know: I don't want an iPod, they are too expensive, I know I can get larger capacity at a lower price elsewhere.

You're right about that. the creative zen is larger, but supposedly is one of the best in sound quality.

If I didn't care about the ability to store a contact list, I'd either get the Rio Karma or the Creative Zen.

i'll let you know about the muvo2-4gb when it arrives

i had a look around at the archos gmini, it's similar dimentions to the muvo but it's very heavy in comparison.

1) You've got unlimited memory, 300GB if you want, just keep buying Minidiscs.
2) You can play them in certain stereos without wires and crap
3) They're cheaper
