I never said you couldn't, its just that he's looking for an MP3 player not a CD player, I suggested a minidisc because you can put MP3's AND cd's on and you've got unlimited space

Does anyone know of a player that also has an AM/FM tuner? I've found one but it only has FM. That's fine for music, but I'd also like to catch some sports over the radio, and they're all on AM freqs here.

That's a worst case scenerio. Most likely the price will come down and/or they'll have better batteries before I needed to buy my first new battery.

And no, I woudln't mind paying $99 every 2 years if I use it all the time.

But what I'm saying is that I don't see how this is any better/different than a CD player except that the discs are smaller.

RCA makes some, like this one but it's not the one I saw before.

EDIT: Okay, here's the one I saw earlier. It's an MPiO.

Lots of people think radio is dead, but functionally, I think it's still a useful feature for an MP3 player. It took me a while to find one, but when I was shopping for a CD player a couple of years ago I waited until I got one with a built-in AM/FM radio tuner.

Radio is dead to me as far as listening to music, but I gotta have Howard Stern in the morning and NPR for news.

those are probably fine MP3 players, but I want a hard drive one so I can just load my entire collection on it.

And I'm saying its better because you can put MP3's on a minidisc, if you put them on a CD then you can only use it once

if price-storage ratio is the most important, th iPod is indeed a bad choice.

but when you look at other specs, it's pretty much unbeatable. I'd go for it, might cost a little more but lemme tell ya, it's totally worth the money.
