After the abolition of slavery blacks were indeed offered a form of reparations 40,000 recently freed black slaves most who served in the Union army were given about 40 acres per family between Georgia and South Carolina. Land they had tended to and wbrked their entire lives. Well after 6 months of settling President Andrew Johnson gave the property back to the confederate slave owners.

My apologies for bumping a withered old thread, but I just got this album a couple days ago and by far it's my fave album of 2004. I liked it more that Good News for Bad Peeps and De La Soul's The Grind Date.

Rarely in modern hip hop do you get such good beats to accompany such deep and lyrics. I loved the way he talks about "bullshit ice rap" plaging modern hip hop, and addresses his own irony of going "...to Jakob with 25 thou" and how it relates to his culture's self esteem. The beats on "Jesus Walks" and "School Spirit" are completely addicting, and it's refreshing how readily he embraces topics that are meaningful. It's just such a fucking honest piece.

I could go on about how much I enjoyed it, but I'll spare y'all. Just had to give it some love.

I d/led one of his cds, gave it one listen and set it aside. I didn't think it was anything special, maybe I'll give it another try.

I was actually disappointed by the Kayne West stuff. I had so much expectations after listenin to the first 2 singles ... but those expectations weren't fulfilled. I liked De La Soul's Grind Date a lot better as a whole album.

like for fuck's sake, i don't even dislike the guy, he's okay. his album is too long, his production gets extremely monotonous, his flow kind of sucks, but hey- he's okay. but people seem to just buy into his "I'M AN INTELLIGENT RAPPER! I HAVE THINGS TO SAY!" crap which just a pose, and not a particularly well-maintained one at that. whoa! he raps about jesus! ma$e fucking raps about jesus.
