Hes my favorite hip hop artist atm. If you haven't already, go buy (or dl) "All Falls Down" and "Jesus Walks" from his album The College Dropout. This guy reminds me of Nas and 2pac with his lyrics.

Land they had tended to and wbrked their entire lives. Well after 6 months of settling President Andrew Johnson gave the property back to the confederate slave owners.TelCat> i am a slut not a hoe

Kanye West's lyrics are as deep as Nas and 2pac? eh, maybe you should listen to rap more before you make such a statement. perhaps he's better than rakim?

My apologies for bumping a withered old thread, but I just got this album a couple days ago and by far it's my fave album of 2004. I liked it more that Good News for Bad Peeps and De La Soul's The Grind Date.
Rarely in modern hip hop do you get such good beats to accompany such deep and lyrics. I loved the way he talks about "bullshit ice rap" plaging modern hip hop, and addresses his own irony of going "...to Jakob with 25 thou" and how it relates to his culture's self esteem. The beats on "Jesus Walks" and "School Spirit" are completely addicting, and it's refreshing how readily he embraces topics that are meaningful. It's just such a fucking honest piece.
I could go on about how much I enjoyed it, but I'll spare y'all. Just had to give it some love.

I d/led one of his cds, gave it one listen and set it aside. I didn't think it was anything special, maybe I'll give it another try.http://www.trenchwars.org/forums/showthread.php?t=15100 - Gallileo's racist thread

and "I say fuck the police, thats how I treat em" is anything other than just plain stupid and played out in 1988?
Getting choked by the detectives yeah yeah now check the method
They be asking us questions, harass and arrest us
Saying "we eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast"
Huh? Yall eat pieces of shit? What's the basis?
We ain't going nowhere but got suits and cases
A trunk full of coke rental car from Avis
when you said that his lyrics were deep, i guess you meant this song?
i'm not even going to get into "the new workout plan," except i'm pretty sure that's stupidity and not sarcasm, dude
what a fucking blowhard he is really, lol. it's unbelievable to me how he can in one song ("breathe in breathe out") comment that he "want[ed] to rap about something significant/and now it's just money, hoes, and rims again"... and then... two verses later...
I blow past low class *****s with no cash
In the fo' dash six, bitch you can go ask
So when I go fast popo just laugh
Right until I run out of gas or 'til I go crash
Whatever comes first I'm prepared for the worst
Whatever comes second I'll be there with my weapon
Pullin' up in the Lexuses/'lexeses, one on both hand
So I guess them GSes was ambidextrous
Coulda sworn her breasteses was sendin' me messages
like for fuck's sake, i don't even dislike the guy, he's okay. his album is too long, his production gets extremely monotonous, his flow kind of sucks, but hey- he's okay. but people seem to just buy into his "I'M AN INTELLIGENT RAPPER! I HAVE THINGS TO SAY!" crap which just a pose, and not a particularly well-maintained one at that. whoa! he raps about jesus! ma$e fucking raps about jesus.Originally posted by WardOK.. ur retarded case closed
