like for fuck's sake, i don't even dislike the guy, he's okay. his album is too long, his production gets extremely monotonous, his flow kind of sucks, but hey- he's okay. but people seem to just buy into his "I'M AN INTELLIGENT RAPPER! I HAVE THINGS TO SAY!" crap which just a pose, and not a particularly well-maintained one at that. whoa! he raps about jesus! ma$e fucking raps about jesus.

You gotta be joking. You think every song he writes has to be some Nobel Prize winning piece of poetry? How fucking cynical of you to take a couple verses out of context and just say the whole thing is crap. I guess I have to remind you that he's getting paid by a record company that would prefer his records get sold. Not every word that he writes down is going to be a social statement. Some of it is going to be some typical shit that aims to get played in the club, but you act like that is representative of the entire album.

As far as the whole anti-college bullshit he writes about, I have mixed feelings. I don't agree with his take about college being a waste of time, but clearly he's writing about his personal experience with leaving college. Moreso, I completely agree that if you're going to school, you need to be there for the right reason. A lot of people go to school because it's the "safe" thing to do instead of actually being cognizant of why they are there and that's a subject he touches on in "All Falls Down". How many people do you personally know who are working in the field that they got their degree in? Most of the people I know aren't.

Whatever, you said it right there about "Breathe In Breathe Out". But I think the song makes fun of itself. It's clearly pointing out it's own irony, which is what I like about this album. It is honest about what it is. Imperfect, but accountable of it's own flaws, which is much more than I can say about most hip hop these days.
