I dont think there has been a single truly intelligent human being that likes that big stinking pile of crap they call wrestling. It is not even possible to measure how large a pile of crap wrestling is. Lets just say the human mind can only comprehend equal to a small piece of corn in the great stinking shitpile that is wrestling.
I like wrestling. Where do I fit into that stereotype of yours?

Personally, I don't see the appeal in watching half naked men touch each other unless there's actually an element of sport involved, or you're actually gay. Do women watch mud-wrestling on TV? No. That's because they don't like watching women touch each other. If it's scripted, why not make it less homo-erotic? Well, apparently, because it sells, for whatever reason. I don't understand wrestling, let's just say that.
Wrestling today has changed much from the wrestling of the 80's, much like it has changed from the wrestling of the 50's. In the last decade alone, the industry has dropped the fourth wall and make it clear to its audience that everything is faked and scripted. Wrestlers have appeared out of character and had their personal lives opened to the public, so they are no longer just living comic book characters but actors and athletes.

The homophobic excuse is also tired and pointless. I've seen it not just with "professional" wrestling but also being used to insult the real sport of wrestling as featured in the Olympics and other major sporting events around the world. I've wrestled in high school and I've also coached a high school team, winning regional team titles both as an athlete and as a coach. I've helped kids that were too small for the football, rugby or hockey and other sports teams find a sport in which they cannot just participate on an equal footing, but also excel in and be champions. I've seen kids putting everything on the line in a match, breaking noses, dislocating shoulders, snapping shinbones and getting concussions. I've also seen kids being put down because others see their sport as being homosexual. I've helped those same kids feel proud of themselves and of their chosen sport, to band together as a team in the ultimate of individual sports. While "professional" wrestling is much different from our kind of wrestling, there are enough parallels for me to say that the two posts I quoted above have insulted and offended me more than anything on these forums ever has.

Trying to criticize or insult wrestling and its fans because of these homophobic attitudes and at the same time labelling those fans as being homoerotic, uncultured and unintelligent is not only ignorant but also hypocritical.

enewszone.com is a pretty good site for results...if you feel like dealing with tons of pop-ups.

Disappointing PPV. Too bad WrestleMania is the only one worth watching nowadays.

wrestling reminds me of how i would imagine softcore gay porn would be...with the shiny outfits, the grab-ass, the silly drama. it just doesn't do anything for me.

honestly, the extreme popularity of nascar and wrestling are huge mysteries to me.

For the record, I said "unless there is an element of actual sport involved" because I consider real wrestling an actual sport, and to me, it makes sense that real wrestlers wear the outfits that they do. Clearly, it wouldn't make any sense for them to wrestle in full body-covering costumes. At least in this area of the country, the kids that wrestle in high school or college aren't ever put down as gay, and the wrestlers aren't outcasts of any kind. If that had been the case, I probably would have mentioned that I see a huge difference between wrestling (sport) and wrestling (acting), and that I had nothing against real wrestling. However, I had no idea that someone would make such a ridiculous connection and take such offense to it.

What I meant was that I consider it odd that something that is staged to be so homo-erotic, considering the general nature of most of the people that enjoy watching it, and that, personally, I don't see the appeal. I never said anything at all related to casting real wrestling in a negative light, or even anything negative against the professional wrestlers themselves. I still don't see the appeal in watching staged acts of half-naked men touch each other, and you can either feel free to explain the appeal of professional wrestling, or continue to be offended by connections that you completly fabricated.

And my point is that the reason people find "pro" wrestling homoerotic is the same reason they find "real" wrestling homoerotic. If you think the presence or lack of actual competition makes a difference in that then you're just backtracking. Real wrestling is more common in the States than it is here in Canada, and up here, wrestlers ARE put down as being gay and ARE being outcast for it. Do you expect me to go to a ninety pound ninth grader crying in the locker room wanting to quit wrestling because people are making fun of him for "rolling around on mats with guys" and say to him: "don't worry, just go tell them that it's alright because it's an actual sport!"?

That's only part of what offended me about those two posts however. What offended me as well was the stereotypes you both attached to people who do like wrestling. I cannot understand how you can make fun of wrestling fans' intelligence and yet still be narrow minded enough to use homophobic stereotypes. I mean, you don't have to like wrestling. Not everybody does, and that's alright. What isn't alright is why you have to go make fun of those who do.

I used to watch wrestling WCW and WWF the 95-98 period i tried getting back into it but i dont find it entertaining any more simply because its gone way over the top the characterisation is insane, the character profile of a wrestler changes every month and they keep pushing the boundaries on special moves i remember the day when someone did a special move and the other guy was out i saw a match where stone cold delivered 3 stunners to kurt angle (?) and he still kicked out and won the match thats just crazy. They also keep having dumb gratitous matches like the "underwear" matches in women wrestling although is fun to watch for me it doesnt do much for the credibility of wrestling and i just keep thinking how far will they go?. I think wrestling today has lost its touch and has pushed the limits too far.

For people who think appreciating wrestling is stupid and dont understand why people follow it, it is the same reason why people study movies- they are also fake. With wrestling (refering 95-98 period) the characterisation was amazing they fully developed each wrestler/ character and (didnt change his/her profile) also the actual plot of the match was entertaining as well, the fact is it takes brilliance to create a wrestling match theres more to it than you think to grab people's attention the way WWE does even though audience knows in the back of the mind that it is fake takes a level of genious as good as steven speilberg or taratino or any other famous director. Im sure any film student could greatly appreciate wrestling thus should be considered an art.

Ill give some props to wrestling just because not everyone can do the shit that that little mexican dude does, flips and all, so theres definately skill involved.

Also, i know that some of them are "proper" athletes, the guy who does the rock, was some über football star in high-school and through college till he fucked his spine/knee during his last year of college, and thus didnt get drafted to the NFL (or something like that).

However, wrestling in itself is just BS.

Troll King, the wrestling you are talking about is the REAL kind of wrestling right? the greco-roman wrestling in the olympics? Well if this is true, i was not referring to that wrestling at all. I have a great respect for people who participate in the real sport of wrestling, it takes skill, strength and lots of talent. What i was putting down so mercilessly was that fake wwf garbage. Just another mass media plot to sell all this crap to people who dont know any better. And it gets worse, many morons who watch this fake wrestling try to perform it themselves. I read a story about a 15 year old boy who tried a wrestling move on a little 8 year old girl and killed her. Yet, nothing changes, the WWF basically gets no bad publicity. And you know what all this is putting in little kid's heads who dont know any better? extreme violence, hurting people, violence against women, and basically de-humanizing women in general. Think of all the mislead little 12 year olds whos idol is STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN!! instead of someone like David Suzuki, it makes me sick. Fake wrestling is the crap of the Earth and we would surely have a better planet without it. So that is why i bashed fake wrestling so much, i hope you find those reasons at least somewhat legitimate.

Also, what i have a problem with is that people enjoy fake wrestling solely because of the staged violence of people beating on eachother. I dont know what the human infatuation with this violence is, but it is sick. I dont understand how an intelligent human being can watch people trash talk eachother, then proceed start beating the crap out of eachother. Then, of course, some other guy comes in and cheap-shots someone from behind with a chair. Then some women with big fake breasts come in yelling and beating on eachother. That stuff is set at such a low intelligence level, i fail to understand how anyone with a decently working brain can be amused by that garbage. That is why i said that people that like fake wrestling arent smart. I stick with that opinion, an only exception would be if people liked that fake wrestling for a different reason. But at this point, I cant think of any other reason why someone would like wrestling.
