Despising vs making webpages compatible are two different things. What fallen angel said, no webdesigner will ignore ie compatiblility.

So you can use whatever you want, but personally, I have 3 browsers as of right now, Netscape, IE, Mozilla. Those are the 3 that are used..any others are just being really stupid.
Listen you, putting some fucked up asian smiley after your insult doesn't excuse your ass. I haven't a fucking clue what you mean by "microsoft owns 90% of the web market". Do you mean they run 90% of the sites? Because that's bullshit. Do you mean that 90% of the current webpages are designed on their software, because that's also bullshit. Do you mean their software is used to run 90% of webservers, THERE you might actually have something, I'm not sure about the statistics of but it doesn't mean jack fucking squat what the hells serving the page since we're talking about how you browse it. IE is the browser for 90%+ of users SIMPLY BECAUSE IT'S THERE WHEN YOU INSTALL WINDOWS, that doesn't mean it handles pages better than other browsers, and that sure doesn't mean that it upholds industry standards (why would they streamline when they already have a huge market share?). Yes, I've made webpages, no I do not do so for a living (not that I couldn't, I just think it's about as much fun as a hernia), but my only point was:
Don't just use IE because it's _there_, go find a browser that you like and don't be another fucking lemming.
Frankly, after using both IE and Firefox on a daily basis, I haven't found a single thing about IE I like better than Firefox. Especially the pop-up protection, which is an absolute god send.

Amen, Wadi.
Vitron--> Me, and a lot of the people I associate with, will design for Mozilla, make it look as good as possible in IE, then upload it.
Another thing that is catching on is to assign different stylesheets depending on browser.
Either way, stuff like this would be much easier if they were at least remotely similar in the way they handled things, and I poke the finger at IE to change, because right now, it is the worst to use for designability.
And, yes, I know it doesn't work work in Opera.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black...What? Image signatures aren't allowed? This is an outrage!

Microsoft's IE has over 90% market share. That means over 90% of the world's web users use IE. If you're a serious web designer (meaning you actually want to make money doing it, and not just be a 'geek webdesigner on IRC') you will design pages for IE.
Crappy or not crappy, if you don't design for IE and completely ignore it then no one is going to pay you to make websites (unless it's for an I hate IE club home site).
Before you get your panties in a bunch, I'm sure SOMEONE in the world makes money by completely ignoring IE, just as SOMEONE in the world makes money by only creating Linux applications instead of creating Windows (or at least a Windows version) applications. But you're not going to get very far if you don't.
Go to any major website on the planet, they will ALL support IE. So do yourself a favour, if you are a serious web designer who actually wants to make money from doing it, make sure you develop for IE.
For the record I use Mozilla and I have since it came out because I believe it to be a superior browser. But when I create websites I sure as hell make sure that they work for IE.

You've never been around "real" webdesigners, have you? Not the wannabe's who will sell themselves out.
I guarentee you, go to any "geek" type place, like IRC, and 9/10 of the webdesigners you meet will despise IE as I do, and design primarily for Gecko-engine based navigators (Mozilla)
Costumers don't care about IE being a "crappy browser" or it being not fully w3c compliant. What they do care about is the fact that IE is used by 90% of the webbrowsing community, so to them IE compatibility is paramount. There's no place like 127.0.0.1

It's, once again, all about supply and demand.
Sure, you're welcome to make a page that says "FU" instead of the proper page if you try to enter it with IE, but how many visitors do you think that page will get??5: Da1andonly> !ban epinephrine

Not only does 90% of the web have Internet Explorer, but Internet Explorer is one of the worst browsers ever created.
Scratch that, its not a browser, its a file explorer that tries to be a web-browser.
If anyone else here has written a webpage that uses CSS (which webpages are supposed to do), only to have IE render it much differently than proper prowsers, like Mozilla and Opera.
Bah, my frustration is too intense to be explained.

Okay, you're all stupid as fuck, except for wadi because he's the man.
It doesn't matter what browser people are using. It makes no fucking difference whatsoever. If you're a serious web designer, you code your shit to be cross-browser compatible. It's entirely possible to code a site that will look and act virtually identical across IE/Mozilla/Opera/MAC IE/Safari. It's called standards compliance. Yes, the W3C standards are more of a guideline, but they're a damn fucking good guideline. Use them. I do, and I haven't had any trouble with one browser in particular since IE6 hit the market. If you can't handle coding with standards compliance in mind, you suck. Stop dicking around with web design.
P.S. I suppose I can't say Fallen Angel is stupid as fuck either. He is correct in saying that IE has most of the market share. And when it comes to clients, you do make sure the site works in IE above all else. Still, any web designer that's worth a shit will code a site that works in any browser. Period.jasonofabitch loves!!!!

It's true, I am stupid as fuck. I like Safari mostly for the built in pop up protection and the cute little compass icon that ensures me on a deep emotional level, that no matter where I go, I'll never be lost on the web with Safari.
