Yeah we sat on our asses, because we have a foreign policy, ever heard of the Monroe Doctrine? It said we would STEER CLEAR OF EUROPEAN AFFAIRS. Yet when needed, we came and rescued our allies' asses like usual. Oh yeah, and i almost forgot to add that we sent millions upon millions of supplies to great britain, france, and russia BOTH FUCKING TIMES. don't kid yourself. there are no innocent americans in iraq. don't get me wrong, according to most reports, nicholas berg was a humanitarian who was there for the right reasons. but, as far as i'm concerned, you lose your innocence when you accept a job of that nature and assume that extremely high level of risk. berg knew there was a chance he could die but continued anyway. the innocent americans are the 3,000 that died in the WTC who were spending just another day at the office.

but i agree about "they're using the pictures" part of what you said. honestly, i had no idea which pictures you were referring to, either the pics of the staff abusing the prisoners, or the video of nicolas berg losing his head to al-quaeda. but either way, the statement is correct. the iraqi rebels are using the prison abuse to gain more supporters for the general resistance effort, and al quaeda is using the video of berg to gain support, fear, respect, undermine the war effort worldwide, to get revenge, etc. rumsfeld said it himself when the war had just begun, "this is a war of hearts and minds." and considering the recent news, and public support for the war at it's lowest levels yet, it looks like the US is losing that war.

Btw, wanted to say this because it seems many of you are delusioned about the combatants in Iraq. Sunni's, who prospered in the last regime, make up a good portion of these combatants. Why do you think 95% of the attacks occur in the Sunni Triangle which only comprises of 10% of Iraq's geography. Many of these combatants are also foreignors, mostly from Syria, who came to Iraq to get a piece of America in war. Also the terrorists are foreignors for the most part. Would Iraqis bomb themselves just to get one soldier, or bomb an Iraqi school bus, or a purely Iraqi police station. These terrorists target Iraqis supporting the US occupation because 1) US soldiers are much harder to kill and 2) many terrorists blame Iraqis for not conducting a jihad war against the US.

Your average Iraqi doesn't like America, but they also don't like the terrorists, foreign fighters, and Saddam loyalists in their own country causing this turmoil.
