Not to piss on everyone's parade, but I'm genuinely wondering why people are in such a rush to get a G-mail account? Seriously, it'll be open and free soon enough.

I want to see it for 2 things:
1.) the ability to see tree'd conversations. It could be pretty spiffy if they did it right.
2.) the ability to send a tree'd set of attachments that unrar in to say, an album of music, or a movie.
3.)I do conference presentations on Powerpoint. If you've ever worked with powerpoint, you know why I need a gig of email space.

It's easy to get an invite for Gmail, just go to http://www.gmailswap.com and offer something that people want. I offered a Warcraft CD key and had several invites within 2 minutes, only used one invite though. Even if you don't have something to offer, you can just ask for a freebie, people are usually decent enough to give you an invite for nothing.
