Then there are power roles that can be on either side, of which there are many but common ones are like:
Doctor: Protects one person from death at night
Roleblocker: Blocks someone from performing their role
Cop/Detective: Investigates people and finds out if their guilty or innocent
Then there's really weird ones like bus driver, which I don't even remember what it does. But with that basic information you could sign up.

Such a tough game to get ahead of when no one is saying shit and no actual chatter is catching on. Easy for scum to hide and nothing for townies to go off of and hard to set scum traps. Oh well.
Honestly, for those of you who have played multiple games with me over the past year or two (and a decade or more earlier, but specifically our more recent ones), you know that one part of how I play this game is literally railroading people as hard as possible and watching at not only how they react, but how everyone else reacts. Paul had me pretty convinced that he might be pro-town, but with his "I'm not changing my vote against myself no matter what" position when I tried to meet him halfway and voted Vehicle (who screamed scum all game, like I said multiple times), it didn't really give me any choice but to switch back to my initial vote against him. I was surprised that he used his vigi shot like that - if it were me I definitely wouldn't have, but everyone plays their own way.
I will say, Vehicle you did scream scum to me a lot of the game and I think it's clear from our interactions, but you played well. Beast, you just didn't do much and this game was way too easy to hide in.
Nice work Backwards, played well as Doc.
TY for hosting Willby. Hopefully we can get another going and maybe get these more active... but I'm not super confident about that prospect after this one and the last one.

Jesus Christ. The 4 of you have essentially admitted that there are exactly 0 plausible scenarios where I would do what did and be scum, yet you and backwards both jumped back on the bandwagon. And I'm having the mental health crisis?
Also, you jump back on after 1 post (saying nothing) from vehicle, and nothing from Beast, so now we won't even learn anything from the way they vote this phase. If there hadn't been a majority when they decided to finally do something, we could have learned something and seen who they protect. But now they've both got a free pass through this phase without having to participate. Idk when you 2 decided to start playing checkers, but mafia has always been a chess game.

Yeah I guess I should have voted backwards the last day phase instead of just voting Voth out of spite.
To be honest, the game should of been over the day paul and backwards roleclaimed, if Voth hadn't gone so hard on paul then process of elimination had pretty much outted Beast and I.
If I had pulled off the right night kill: win. If I had voted backwards instead of voth: win for beast. It was pretty obvious where the chips were falling by then.
I made some dumby moves later in the game for sure, but I'm still content with the outcome.

The theme:
This game was based on the board game "Spirit Island". In the game, colonists invade an island while the players (spirits) fight them off. This was twisted to have the mafia be invaders corrupted by the spirits. The rest of the town were more invaders. Pretty simple!
The game:
A pretty simple setup, designed to last as long as possible with a couple different checks and balances. 2/8 were scum, with paul as vigi to balance. I really like limited shot vigilantes for this reason. He'll hold his shot for an opportune moment. A doc, a cop, and a framer round out the cast.
The interesting twist was the double lunch rule. Originally, this was added to stop the mafia from having a quick win. Until it was 2-2, scum didnt have a win locked up. This forced an additional day out of it (as long as town didnt double lynch themselves). I could not have predicted what would happen next.
By all accounts, it was a pretty solid game for scum. D1 lynch, N1 kill an afker. Halfway there? Another lynch, and we entered N2 with a lot at stake. Our vigi decided to act, and that Voth was to die. The scum, too, decided Voth would die. But sdrawkcab said no, and prevented 2 kills. Unfortunately, Paul's shot was lost. The confusion of the nights events would leave paul lynched, and the mafia near their flawless victory. But this is where they messed up. While I could have called it there, a third end game scenario opened up, courtesy of the double lynch rule.
If somehow scum could not night kill, but still force ties during the day, a tie would result. But this took a lot of mistakes. First, they'd have to miss all their night kills (but, they shot into the doctors protection. Then, they'd have to lynch Voth over sdrawkcab, as voth was unable to defend himself (kill the doc asap). After vehicle and Voth were killed, sdrawkcab had a choice to protect himself (special rule) or to protect the scum. After much deliberation, he saved himself from death. This left us on D5, where I went ahead and assumed they would vote for each other, and allowed another double lynch to go through. With no players left (spirits or townies), the only people left alive were island natives, and therefore a native victory (as opposed to spirit or settler).
MVP:
sdrawkcab. Prevented every night kill except the first, where scum took out an afker who would've been mod killed anyways
Honorable mentions:
vehicle. pretty under the radar, until it was impossible to be.
The_paul. Tough break for a vigi. Missed his shot, and got lynched for admitting it
