He wasn't shot during the Cuban Missile Crisi for one. The Embrago is still in place today so who cares if he thought of it. And there was a lot of Politics in it because all of his military staff wanted to use the nukes and not him. And the U.S. Agreed with the Russians to remove their missiles from a middle eastern country in exchange for the removal of the missiles in Cuba, It wasn't castro at all.

Kennedy is the reason that incident took place. Khruschev made the agreement to back down and Castro got the shit end of it. I mean, does anyone remember the Bay of Pigs? That was Kennedy's decision, despite the fact that Eisenhower designed the plan. That was a huge fuckup that happened on Kennedy's watch. I never said he was shot during the Crisis. He was shot before he could remove the embargo. And I care what his intentions were because that proves to me what kind of a President he was. It wasn't his fault he was killed.

There are two major political parties in America, Democrats and Republicans. Republicans are usually more conservative and Democrats a little more liberal. Most politicians lie in the middle of the spectrum however because as a politician it's the most prudent place to be. However, those aren't the only two political parties. For example, many people run for the office of President the United States and you can vote for any of them in the general election. But, the only ones who have a real chance at winning are the Democrat candidate (Kerry in this case) and the Republican candidate (Bush). Therefore, if you really hate Bush, it makes more sense to vote for Kerry even if you don't like him much either as long as you think he's better than the alternative. However some people hate them both equally and cast their vote elsewhere.

America isnt a democracy tho when it comes to the presidency...see we have this thing set up called the Electoral College....and they're the ones that ultimately decide the president....Not the American ppl....so America is really just a Capitalistic Aristocracy...where the rich pick the leaders and the leaders are appointed by the rich

America is not a democracy, it's a republic. A 250,000,000-man democracy would be a logistical nightmare.

People end up voting for Democrats or Republicans because of bipartisanism in the media, among other reasons. Nobody wants to vote for someone they know is not going to win (or if their vote isn't going to count -- the electoral college really needs to be done away with), therefore they don't vote for other parties because they don't think they're going to win. Also, the media doesn't give coverage to other parties. If you just watched American news and didn't know about their politics, you'd probably think that only 2 people ran for presidency, with an occasional Ralph Nader. In fact, more than 20 people run for the election on various parties. There's even someone who runs from the communist party.

Anyway, sentament is basically that you're throwing your vote away if you vote for 3rd-party candidates. Only the most forward-thinking, intelligent, wise, moral people who posses a rare trait known as "common sense" will vote for a 3rd-party if they like the candidate over either of the other two, and this is why a strong 3rd-party candidate hurts the democrats while having no effect on the republicans.

So I say, it is important that education focuses on learning, and not merely on job training. I do believe my school did the right thing, then they mandated that every science major has to have one credit in humanities and one in social sciences, but perhaps they didn't do enough. I think it's a huge mistake to blindly train people for jobs in the future if we don't train people how to think, because it is only by thinking and actively debating our ideas of today can we through ideas alone (and the laws that follow ideas) create a better world for tomorrow.

I thought that the main objective of universities are to train corporate slaves. Maybe I am too cynical nowadays. But I do think, in real life, commercial work experience is valued more than your general knowledge, intelligence and common sense. In pursue of higher salaries, most of the people voluntarily spending best of their lives to bulid empire for few others :/

The bay of pigs wasn't just for shits and giggles, It happened Because Castro made all business' Nationalised (state run) therefore a lot of wealthy Americans lost a lot of Money that they had going through Cuba. And It was an attempt to overthrow Castro and place a more 'American friendly' Leader in there. So Actually Castro was the one who started it when he rebelled and took control. We could argue that issue for a long time.

What a dumbass. Very rarely will someone in the electoral college vote against what their state has decided. Sure it isnt a total democracy, but you're making it sound as though what the people vote doesnt even matter. Who said all the members of the electoral college are rich? How rich do you have to be to get in it? Electoral college works well because whoever wins more states will usually win the election. Take 2000 for example. In more parts of the country, Bush was supported over Gore. He certainly deserved to win that election.

Well there's no way I'd vote for someone who supports gay marriage and abortion, so yea, I'd vote for Bush. And my family does benefit from the tax breaks so it's all good.

weird how Kerry's plan for energy independence requires oil from russia, drilling in the Alaskan perserve (the same one you tree huggers freaked out about when Bush said the same thing-sidenote:i am actaully a tree hugger for this one. leave the damn perserve alone), and upgrading old coal plants? wtf why don't we build new ones instead with govt subsidaries.


what's weirder is Kerry historian said kerry lied about vietnam. drudgereport has got some interesting posts. I have yet to see anything anywhere else about it.
