What is wrong with people typing out a lot of stuff, which will be interesting to more than just a few people? If you don't want to read or appreciate it, just fuck off.

in other news, it's a shame that Scholesy quit playing for England

Mike: Understood, homie. Thanks for the rundown. If you're suggesting a new striker for an already well-balanced Arsenal squad, though, we'll have to agree/disagree on a name-by-name basis (running on the assumption that Vieira stays).

Nailed: I feel for him, but it was a smart decision if you ask me. He wasn't a goal factory for the National team, and wasn't going to be played in position anytime soon. Gerrard and Lampard are the future for England's central midfield, and they should start getting used to that as soon as possible. Find another player to field on the left, and let Scholes prolong a club career where he fits.

I'm not buying. I see him as a first option, despite Spain's national team's decisions and Madrid's stockpile. It just doesn't work in my head. If you're really giving up on Reyes already (I can't believe you labeled a 20-year old as having an "identity crisis," by the way. That's just ageism, and I won't stand for it) then how about somebody like Gudjohnsen (maybe could have made it happen, pre-Crespo/Jimmy-Floyd firesale).

Haha, I'm not giving up on Reyes, he's a good talent and has a bright future. I was just trying to personify the position he plays - as do a lot of the worlds top players; Valeron, Totti, Scholes, etc - as it's half midfield and half attack. Although I would love to see Reyes break down half way through a match and start flaking out as he was having an identity crisis. I'M NOT AN ARSENAL FOOTBALL PLAYER! YES I AM! NO I'M NOT! I would pay good money to see that

The reason I'm dubious about Reyes is not the player's talents, I just can't see where he'd fit into the team. If he played up front with Henry then along with the two wingers we'd have four people making runs into the box and no one inside it. You can't place him in central midfield as Arsenal use that roles exclusivly for protecting the defence and setting up attacks, not getting involved in them. I just though an out-and-out striker would have been a better purchase

yeah, it was probably a good decision. it lets Gerrard and Lampard get a good partnership going. it's still a shame though. Scholes is one of my favourite players (behind Giggsy though!)
