    RIDE THE TIE-GAH.

Ok seriously. I like tons of cheese metal, so I won't even bother to mention that stuff. As for tons of people saying "their new stuff is a disgrace to their name!". Look - no matter what genre, bands are almost always going to change their sound as time goes on. Just adjust. I personally think the new Dimmu Borgir is fantastic. The production is awesome. Then you get into the whole nu-metal/metal argument. In Flames, for example. Their newer stuff definately has more of a nu-metal spin on it. It's still good, though. Awesome riffs on some of the songs.

    Blind Guardian
    Pantera
    Slayer
    Children of Bodom
Opeth has some good stuff, and some really bad stuff
    Same with Otep/Graveworm/Cradle of Filth

I like listening to Manowar just because it's so god damn funny. DEFENDING AMERICA WITH STEEL! FIGHTING WITH STEEL!

Simply put, I love ridiculous metal. If you know of any, please share with me.

The list goes on and on, but I'll just stop with Manowar. Because honestly..it should always end with Manowar.

Even Hammerfall has a few good riffs.. But a good riff doesn't make a song

Pearl Jam, Hammerfall is kinda like Manowar. Iced Earth is kinda like Blind Guardian (but better Except... The new album :/). Helloween can be quite ridiculous with song titles such as "Heavy Metal is the Law" and "Heavy Metal Hamsters".

But the most ridiculous-but-still-good band I think has to be Bal-Sagoth. Most of the tracks are about war, it's all epic black metal stuff, and the singer often goes into big rants where he sounds incredibly excited about getting eternal, infernal power, etc, etc.
To futher strengthen the "rediculous" title of Bal-Sagoth, here are a few samples of song TITLES. Not lyrics! The actual NAMES of the songs:

In the Raven-haunted forests of Darkenhold, where Shadows reign and the hues of sunlight never dance

And lo, when the Imperium marches against Cul-Kothoth, then dark sorceries shall enshroud the Citadel of the Obsidian Crown

The Dark Liege of Chaos is unleashed at the Ensorcelled Shrine of A'Zura Kai (The Splendour of a Thousand Swords gleaming beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire Part II)

I think I made my point.

Oh, oh! I almost forgot, Venom is VERY cheesy. Venom - Black Metal is one of my favourite albums, and it is also pretty... Ridiculous. :P

The other day my friend had the Blind Guardian album playing which is about LoTR ( I think it's called battle for Middle earth or something).
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

I like metal, but mostly listen to more metal influenced hardcore. Bands like Coalesce, Converge, Mastodon, and Dillinger Escape Plan.

Sludge/Doom is rad too, Isis, Khanate, Sunn, Earth, Thrones, Melvins, Old Man Gloom.

As far as metal goes, some bands I like are Cryptopsy, Crowpath, Rune, Carcass, Suffocation, and Napalm Death.

Blind guardian is probly the best power metal to hit anything.

If you want godly power guitar, listen to dragonforce, i have never heard a guitarist play like that.

                - Im not even a big slayer fan, but reign in blood is liked by everyone i guess

Who didnt like korn back in the day?

Venom is not that good, so what if they coined black metal that doesnt make them black metal does it?

                WASP anyone?

It's called 'Nightfall in Middle Earth'. It's an awesome album, but not their best. I would say my favorite album of theirs is 'Follow the Blind', their second album.

If you like cheesy power metal like that, you should check out Falconer. Their album 'Chapters From A Vale Forlorn' is awesome. Also check out the band Hammerfall. All of their albums are kick ass speed/power metal. Also check out Rhapsody, Elvenking, Helloween, Dragonheart/Dragonforce, Highland Glory, and Edguy for speedy power metal similar to Blind Guardian.

[QUOTE=Stabwound]Haha, I can't believe you're ripping on people that like At the Gates and Fear Factory, while you yourself listed this shit. I think Liquid Blue is right. I'm guessing you're about 14-15 years old, an an angsty teen that heard a Slayer song one day and then started to consider themselves a metal head. You're just the type; everything you listen to is just "awesome" but if you don't like it, it's automatically trash. You should go hang out on the Gamefaqs metal boards; you'd fit in nicely. Let me give you a hint: no one thinks you are hardcore, and no one is impressed by the way you are acting.
Hahaha, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Oh, I just noticed you have a picture in the gallery. Hahaha, you trying to wear corpsepaint? You look more like an extra from an Insane Clown Posse video.

                    And i'm the asshat?

Lets see a non refined list from you? Fear Factory, At the gates = shit. I dont really like korn anymore, i put ALL my albums, thats ALL, not refined, if i did that it would be about half the size becuase I am imbarrased to have alot of that stuff.

No matter what it is its still a hell of alot better then fear factory.. at the gates isnt bad just isnt my style? did i not say core=shit? (ps. i dont like core)

Not metal but might appeal to metal-heads: Just got The Von Bondies latest, Pawn Shoppe Heart and its one of my albums of the year (whatever year it came out in), like I say its not metal but its got a really big blues vibe to it, like Led Zep's Dazed And Confused

Yea I've listened to a few Falconer songs awhile ago and it was good stuff. Sounds odd but some of Blind Guardian songs reminded me of Queen from back in the day (you know the Flash Gordon theme song is  ). They also did the cheesy Highlander theme song, but I prefer BG over them anyway. Thanks for the album suggestions, I'll have to check them out.

And MT, do you not like industrial metal, or just Fear Factory? Archetype and Demanufacture are sweet albums IMO, but I like Archetype better. I don't see how Korn's self titled album is more " hardcore" than Soul of a New Machine, or even Demanufacture. Also, you never said whether or not you like melodeath. I've only listened to Soil Work in the melodeath genre, but if you have any other suggestions towards it (anyone, not just MT), I'd be happy to check them out. Another thing, have you listened to Pantera? Vulgar Display of Power is a good album to check out if you havent.

I just saw that you put some of your albums in red, just because of the " fagasses". Why do that if you are so adamant about being close minded and standing by your beliefs?

Soilwork is one word, not Soil Work. If you searched for some of their songs and didn't find any, this is why.
Some good melodeath bands are Disarmonia Mundi, Firewind, Vehemence, Ameran, In Flames (anything before Reroute to Remain is good) and of course Dark Tranquillity.
If you're looking for some power/folk metal, a really good band is Disillusion from germany. They've managed to mix folk elements with thrash and power metal with outstanding results.
If you like avant garde/jazz fusion/technical metal, an album you must listen to is Fredrik Thordendal's Sol Niger Within. It's a concept album about alien abuduction, creepy shit.

If you're looking for new bands and don't know where to start, I've found this metal ezine to be a huge treasure trove of good bands. Fairly well written reviews to boot.
