A brilliant summery, poppy record from a female-fronted band which actually got the title track playlisted on my local station about a year back but I've only just got round to liberating it from Soulseek, and what an investment it is

Hope Of The States - The Lost Riots (Sony)

-Brittish bad boy rock n roll. Professionally produced in an amateurish way, kind of like the new libertines album but better.

-Kind of retroish, intense rock music, musically very challenging. Sarcastic songs, nice lyrics.

-Borrows a lot from 90's bands and the modern post-rock styles.
Nice ballads such as Don't Go to Pieces. Enemies/Friends is one of them easily understood, main-stream songs. Sam Herlyn (vocalist) has a really creepy and good voice, kind of raw and undone but it's just how he wants it. At times it sounds like Rardiohead at it's best, at others his singing seems to realte to Sumner (can't remember the firt name) of New Order or Grag Dull(s??) from Afghan Whigs.

I give it five stars out of five.
It's their first album by the way.

Apulanta - Viper Spank
Well known to finnish people, but they have only made one english album. The album pretty much sucks when I listen to it. Maybe that's because it's the same songs as they have sang in finnish but with english lyrics. They aren't really the kind of guys who know how to pronounce english, or write text that sounds anything close to the really nice finnish original lyrics.
Anyways the band is great, too bad english speaking people miss out on a lot of things.
