Pot - Illegal to possess, not regulated by any gov't agency
Cars - Legal to possess, has its own gov't agency controling persons who drive (BMV)

Regarding the rest of your post about things that are legal but not safe...no shit. Nothing is perfect, you can take LOTS of everyday household objects and turn them into injury causing items. Stairs are one of the top injury causers in the elderly, are you going to say that houses can only be 1 story? The song doesn't make your hands clap,

the problem lies in that pot is legal in some parts of the world, is legal for specific people in other parts of the world, and is beign de-criminalized more and more every day.
it is hard for the government to say "NONONO, DON'T DO IT IT'S HORRIBLE AND YOU ARE KILLING BABIES" when the above is going on. the evidence just doesn't justify the ruling.Philos> I both hate you and like you more than anyone in this game randedl

It's not a question of whether it's better or worse than cigarettes, it is the fact that giving tobacco companies a monopoly over such a market is far more economically beneficial for the powers that be than taking it away would be.
Even if that's not true, aren't cigarette companies positioned in the best possible place to make money from legal marijuana?http://www.trenchwars.org/forums/showthread.php?t=15100 - Gallileo's racist thread

It's pretty naive to think commercials will stop people from smoking weed, especially when cops (at least around here) don't really give a fuck.7:Randedl> afk, putting on makeup

afaik pot was outlawed in the first place because of cotton farmers or some shit in the 30's. the "conclusive" tests to show marijuana was fatal involved basically filling up a tank with smoke and putting a monkey in it, where the monkey died. (suffocation, not inhalation). anyways pot (specifically, the THC) itself isn't dangerous, just it's effects- that's less dangerous than alcohol, where if you don't die in a car wreck you'll get cancer.
but if that's all been posted before, whoops.

I don't think everyone reads the warning labels. Unknowingly mixing 2 legal drugs could have serious consequences.

The grammar was killing me so I got the main points and then stopped reading it.
I was referring to...Oh, and you know, alcohol is not illegal (at least not here in the US), and quite a few kids die from overdosing on that too. I wonder what the fatality rate is for bunk-beds... Overdosing (in kids) will continue whether or not drugs are made legal (for the rest of us). Whether people use or not is choice, and it can be made whether or not the substance(s) in question is/are legal/illegal/age-regulated. Take responsibilty for yourselves- don't go whining to mom-pop government.
So, I'm still not sure what you were trying to get at. Let me know. The song doesn't make your hands clap,

Not all people are intelligent. How do I know? Check out the Darwin Awards. I agree that people SHOULD take responsibility for their own actions. The truth is, some people are so stupid that they need to be dictated what to do about many things in their everyday lives. A good example of this...hot coffee is HOT, but some people still need a warning explaining this.
So, I'm still not sure what you were trying to get at. Let me know.
Essentially, I said that personal usage of drugs is victimless and therefore drugs should all be made legal. I feel things that are victimless should not be considered crime. In criminalizing victimless activities/conditions, so lives the death of freedom. Cylor then said that they are not victimless- for someone might overdose and die leaving victimized parents. And *basically* where I went from there was to say that life itself would be a crime if all things were judged to be victimless or not under her/his argument, and those not deemed victimless illegalized- for life is risks and life is choices, many resulting in peril and/or death and largely leaving "victimized" friends/family/and so on. Danger lurks around every corner whether it be unnecessary, "unnecessary", necessary, "necessary", or any other form, unform or uniform. Again, risks and choices are part of life. To take responsibilty for our own actions is important, and yet we have hordes of people whining to the government instead. Whether or not drugs/<insert something else victimless here> are legal/illegal/age-regulated, people will still overdose, and people will still die. However, if they are legal, you won't have innocent people rotting away their (ruined) lives in jail, victimized for minding their own business. You also probably won't have people receiving shady versions of what they seek and overdosing accidentally from varied potence/content/etc.
As for the "idiots", perhaps we should stop all this "baby-proofing" and just let natural selection run its course. <<That quasi-basically made its way in there too. Hmmm....Maybe they'll stumble into my grammar of death... unprepared... and subsequently perish from its savageness.
