the whole thou shalt not kill was brought up by someone saying how do christians say they are pro-life and pro-death penalty. I was merely explaining the wording they had was wrong and therefore changes the whole logic of that argument.

      pop quiz
      a. someone lives 40 years in prison
      b. someone lives 20 years in prison
which choice will I pay more for in taxes and healthcare?

how is giving a guilty person life any different than a death penalty anyway?

      Life sentence
You have sentenced a person to a building for the remainder of their lives until they die.

      Death sentence
You have sentenced a person to a building for the remainder of their lives until executed by the state.
Yes, they do kill them fast in Texas. Whether they are guilty, retarded, juveniles, or innocent. Those guys sure don't seem to value life much...unless it's a speck of goo inside a womb, fucking retards.

Regarding your second point, about the cost...it's not so much taxes and healthcare, as investigations, appeals, and trial fees. Even in Texas, According to the Dallas Morning Star, it costs 3x more to sentence someone to death than to imprison them in a max security facility for 40 years.

The difference between sentencing someone to life in prison and death is pretty obvious. With a life sentence, you still have the opportunity to have your case overturned with proper evidence. Now with DNA evidence, there have been over a dozen people found innocent after having served time in prison due to DNA evidence. Since 1973, over 100 people have been exhonerated.

Believe me, I have no problem with criminals being executed. There just has to be a system in place that leaves no room for error, so an innocent person is never executed. Currently, such a system is not in place. Even if it's only 1 person wrongly executed, it would still be an immoral practice.

The translation is correct. sorry if you think different.

If someone is sentenced to life they get a free contained life. They don't get to wander the world anymore, but they do get free food, free shelter, free entertainment, free work out equipment, free healthcare, etc. etc. Why is it free? Because I pay for it. I wish we could ship'em away to a random island and they can learn to survive for themselves. Any felony and off you go!
I don't know of you have been in a prison for over a longer period of time, but it aint no holiday cruise.

uhh I haven't followed this thing at all. I was mearly stating what i have heard over the radio. Since you are slow in figuring this out here let me explain what happens.
          person murdered
person gets an autopsy to find out how they were killed
          evidence collected
          suspects decided
          evidence points to a suspect
          suspect tried

I was not on the jury, I don't know the evidence. I don't care if he gets killed or not. I am for the death penalty, I don't care about this scott peterson case. Detach yourself from the case and look at the broad argument.
          anyway I did some research
          laci autopsy stuff

lastly why would they be sentenced to death if the jury thought he didn't do it? That last part makes no sense
To all the virgins, Thanks for nothing

I don't understand how they could convict him of anything, when they NEVER found a murder weapon and NEVER found out how Laci Peterson died. <_<

The people would just like to convict SOMEONE for Laci's death. If Scott did it, he did a good job of covering his tracks, but you can see how our American justice system fails here, going on intuition instead of cold hard evidence.

I'm with PV, but Id rather stick them all in a room, and gas them, or let them all fight to the death.

It takes 20+ years for someone to be executed in California.

I'd be more against the death penalty if I thought it was the most egregious flaw in our penal system. I think it's ridiculous to send people away to a place where they get TV and a Jello desert, with absolutely no emphasis on rehabilitation. As far as Peterson is concerned, I think he did it, but I think it'd be pretty weak to give someone the death penalty on circumstantial evidence.
