  • South Beach Diet?

    I'm starting the diet tomorrow. :clover:

    I am not obese but have to drop from 165lbs to 150.

    Something about regulating the blood sugar levels...

    Discuss.

      Here's a diet, it's called the "Regular Person Diet"

      1. Don't eat so much
      2. Get exercise

      No seriously, those specialty diets aren't healthy for you. Atkins apparently works, but you could get heart damage from it.

        as far as i can tell, the reason those diets work is that once you limit yourself to eating food you get sick of really fast, you end up eating less. i dont know anyone thats just started eating more fruits and veggies instead of processed crap, and exercised as well, that hasn't lost weight, but i know tons of people that have tried lame diet trends that have totally failed.

          Agreed with Dameon. When I get back in shape for soccer I cut everything I eat in half and exercise twice as much.

          And if you're going to say that I don't eat anything anyway then shut up.

            Like Dameon Angell said, diet's don't work.
            If you really don't want to gain weight, then do the following and stick to it.

            - Don't eat anything after 7 o'clock.
            - Don't consume sugar.
            - Take a breakfast.
            - Exersize.
            - Eat at different times. (sometimes lunch at 11:00, sometimes at 12:00, sometimes at 13:00)
            - Stick with 1200 - 1400 cal. per day, depending on your height.

              Hum well basically any good diet consists in turning your metabolism so that it stops burning carbo hydrates "sugar" and starts burning lyposis "fatness" (dont know if spelling is correct). Well the first thing you have to do is to cut all fatness from your diet and keep your carbo hydrats to a minimum, in order for it to work well you must get a serious approach to the diet. Do aerobical exercise like jogging or aerobics, something that keeps your body working non stop during an hour or so, you must do that in order to start burning all the fatness that's why you must reduce carbo hydrates because if you consume carbo hidrates you must exercise much more in order for your body to start consuming fatness instead of carbo hydrates for energy. You must have a good breakfast eating fruits is actually very good, breakfast is the only meal you are allowed to eat carbo hydrates more often. Drink lots of water, water is good to regulate your system. The first 2/3 weeks are the ones in wich your body adapts to the new regime and you might feel some hunger in these period. Most important of all diets are not meant to reduce your weight in 2 or 3 days... if you are feeling to weak or your weight dops really quick go see your doctor fast. If you can i would even advise you to visit a nutricionist in order to check your diet... diets are serious stuff you can get sick because of them...

                  Eat a varied diet and excercise regularly.

                  That's it, there's no secret. There's no specialty diet that works better than that. Everyone thinks there's a magical way that they can eat magical food and be perfectly fit. There's not. Just don't eat shit every day and excercise at least 3 times a week.

                    I agree with most everyone in the thread. Any good diet book only needs 2 pages.

                    Page 2 Move More

                    Any diet that has a 'name' isn't a real diet. There is no magic, there is no easy way out. It is called behavioral change and it isn't easy when you are young, never mind when you get older.

                          For a girl that may be a lot, but for a 17yr old boy thats scrawny.

                            When most people go on diets and lose weight, they just start up their normal routine (sp?) again and add on pounds. Be sure that you don't do that and you keep exercise.
