I haven't played this game since beta, so I'm just going off what I get from watching my roommate play. He's a 60 undead rogue on Archimonde. I'm considering buying this game in a month or two. In which case I'll be playing a Hunter and Warlock.
And Conc pretty much decribed my outlook on the warriors vs paladins. It all depends on the talent spec of the warrior, but raiding warriors will all use shields.Ronin

Paul, we've been playing since beta, we're well aware of the raid sizes needed to handle the big dragon.
Awesome, totally with conc on this one. If the warrior walks to the entrance of an instance with his 2-hander out, you should just drop the group right there. Paladins may live longer, but they have zero aggro control. and keeping the tank alive may be the priest's job, but keeping everyone else alive is the tank's.
Someone mentioned priest endgame being healbotish, and I guess that's about right. There's some fooling around with dispells, shields, mind controls and psychic screams though that adds flavor to the high end priest content, and in PvP shadow specced priests are formidable, not pansies. They're still a healing class though, so if you don't like that, don't make a priest.
The really nice thing about this game, is that despite what reading the forums may lead you to believe, all classes are useful and playable in almost all situations. You're going to hear a lot of bitching about this class being under powered, or this class being worthless, but it's mostly just that; bitching. So pick whatever class interests you, and play to 60. If you get bored, try another. There are no classes that aren't played.
For all you addicts out there, we just stomped Lucifron in Core. Magmadar is on the block for tomorrow.

I'm playing a 53 Priest now, and though I haven't done Scholo and the likes with him, with lower level group members, I am a healbot... and being a shadow specced priest, it's rather inefficient (though I do still get the job done). However, when it comes to raids, being a Priest I'm basically the saving grace of the group.... though I am only one of two high level Priests on my guild (I only do guild raids). I also must say, Shadow Specced Priests are probably the hardest char to take down in 1v1, and Paladins don't stand a fucking chance against them (3k mana to 0 in less than 15 seconds). The most trouble I have are against undead rogues, but thank god I don't run into them in PvP, just in 1v1 duels
And sorry if I sounded like I was belittling you or something Wadi, I was just thinking to myself how much bigger the guild would have to be than you to take on Onyxia.

Oh, what's the penalty to death? Like, I guess priests can resurrect you, but when you are raised, are there any penalties to dying (Like lower HP, attack, etc*)? Also, I saw someone turn into a ghost or something when I watched some guy die at a LAN. Do you have to run back to town or something as a ghost when you die?DELETED

no penalties, you just have to run back to your dead body, or get rezzed by a priest/paladin who is near your dead body. You can pay an exp penalty and get rezzed at the graveyard if you don't feel like running back to your dead body, but that's pretty stupid unless it's some extreme circumstance.

Sleepy is wrong, as usual. There are two death penalties, depending on which way you resurrect. If another priest/druid/shaman/paladin ressurects you or you run from the graveyard to your body location you take a 10% item durability hit and that's all. If for some reason this is not possible you have the option to be ressurected by the spirit healer located at any graveyard. If you do this you take a 25% durability hit and you have resurrection sickness for 10 minutes (all your attributes are lowered by 75% and you do 75% less damage). Durability works almost exactly like it does in Diablo, it takes x amount of money to repair and an item is unusable at 0 durability. There is no death penality for PvP deaths unless you use the spirit healer to resurrect.

So what's the point in killing another player if there's no penalty to them?http://www.trenchwars.org/forums/showthread.php?t=15100 - Gallileo's racist thread

So, lemme get this straight...
When you die, you turn into a spirit of your former self, unseen my enemies and friendlys I assume? And with this avatar of your former self, you have to run to where your dead body was and re-enter yourself? And when you do this, all your armour/weapons/etc* go down in 10% durablity, which can be repared at a blacksmith (or whatever you guys use) for a nominal fee?
And, if you are a lazyass, you can have a shaman at the graveyard just do it for you for a larger durablity hit and you are weakened for 10 minutes.
Now, can you say, logoff the game while dead, re-enter and be back in your old body bypassing the penalties? Or is the game too smart for that, lol.DELETED
