She has extremely superior qualities when it comes to the caring of children, education, fairness, and everything that makes a person admirable and respectable. It is these qualities that makes comparing Oprah to the fictitious character Atticus from To Kill a Mockingbird reasonable.
Most of Oprah’s quality traits are shown in her very popular TV show, Oprah. This is also the show that she gains the most praise for her courageousness. Before the show became what it is today, it was your everyday talk show. Oprah Winfrey went against all odds and made it what it is today. She took her own vision and put aside what others thought and shaped what she thought would be the perfect show.
However, not all of Oprah Winfrey’s Atticus-like qualities are shown in her show. Oprah has been known largely for participating in many children and adult charities. She is a thriving force in providing children with a better life. She encourages reading the most and incorporates that into everything she does. Not only does Oprah encourage reading, determination, and effort, but she is also a firm believer of civil rights.
