Originally posted by Mr. PeanutsWell I think it blasted the roof off the reactor and a fireball blasted into the sky.
To be specific, it was a steam explosion that blew the lid off the place, then a bunch of radiation escaped. Also, there was a fire in the reactor core. But the radiation escaping was much more harmful than the steam explosion itself. Btw, apparently, it released as much radiation as the Hiroshima A-bomb did.
Sorry for the misunderstanding, holmes.

It will not be inhabitable for at least another 300 years. Some people were exposed to so much radiation that their shadows were burned into the pavement. Some trees there glow red. Click on the Next Page links until you go the end of her site. Enjoy.

Bump? Fuck yes, worth it.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the accident I went on a reading rampage and spent about a week reading about all kinds of Chernobyl- and nuclear power related stuff. There's a bunch of sick sites and even more gruesome videos out there. You don't see people walking over those meter long fuel rods every day. Search for BBC's Inside Chernobyl Sarcophagus , Chernobyl Heart, Discovery Channel's Disaster at CHernobyl torrents.
do the below instead. -NaiLed
I cant promise the torrents will stay up for long, get 'em while they're there.
Alternatively, contact me for the videos. Got 'em all.Last edited by NaiLed; 05-17-2006, 04:50 PM.2:Displaced> k washed my nuts, hope they stop itching now
