That, Ilyaz, is what they call a 'Captive market'
they've got you captive and are gonna squeeze as much money out of you as they can.
I don't know about other countries, but in New Zealand you can go to a bar and get free water, they are required to serve it by law.
Solution: Go to a bar.
Cundor, you have freaking cheap movies... maybe its just hte exchange rate... but movies here cost $8-12:50 depending on what day you go, Popcorn starting at $3, anything else at $2...
Its far cheaper to cross the road, go to the supermarket, wear a large jacket, and smuggle stuff in under your jacket.
Plus, the added bonus of supemarket: you can buy fresh fruit
WOOOT FOR APPLESSSSS
brb, going into healthy food withdrawal

A travesty?
Is it not called free market and is not the answer to simply not support places that over-charge?
The topic isn't about the cost of living, it is about doing an optional leisure activity. If places rip people off and they keep going back for more, then the majority of people are ‘voting’ with their dollars. Competition and supply and demand are very powerful mechanisms.
IlyaZ is headed in the right direction by starting to publicly call people’s attention to the rip off. I am sure that he will also use ‘word-of-mouth’ to inform people IRL about the issue too. So if enough people do this, along with not supporting the activity, then they will eventually change their price structure or go of business.
However, if he is in the minority and people don’t give a shit and continue to pay the price and go to the park, then the travesty more about why the general public is that stupid.
True, They're doing everything within the law. The capitalist law, that is.
The trick they tend to use is, lure people in with cheap stuff (eg buy a season pass, get discounts!!!1!!!) and then overcharge them enough so that the 'discounts' don't actually exist, and its all an economic illusion, designed to bring more consumers in by compelling them to use their season pass.

So before I go into the cinema I pop into B+M Bargains and buy like 50 creme eggs for about £2, and 4 litres of red thunder (ripoff red bull) for £2 too.
Wow 3 bucks for water. See, your problem is you're in Atlanta. Our six flags isn't that ridiculous, but that's most likely because it isn't on the east coast. Plus here you get to entertain yourself with the freakshow consisting of the attendants. The real prime rib of humanity goes to six flags everyday that it's open.
I just imagegoogled six flags to check what the fuck it is.
Well.....I sorta typoed it as six fags, and now I'm scared.

I'm so smart.
Surely Red Bull's the last thing you want to be buying if you're going to be sitting down for the next 2 hours?

Well, recently the quality of films being released has deteriorated and I need it to keep me awake. I'm not gonna waste £5 to see a film and then fall asleep in the middle of it, I may as well stick it out all the way through.

Perhaps, but again, sooner or later (unless thier economic model is based upon on 'one-timers', people who only ever go once and never come back) people will refuse to get ripped off and not support them.
Frankly, I am pretty sure that this isn't the case. I am pretty sure that people simply suck it up and are willing to fork over their money. So my point stands, the real travesty isn't that there are companies willing to capitalize on this, the real travesty is that people are willing to continue to go back and give them their money.
