The reason he questioned that, I believe, is because mixing the stuff with 7-Up does absolutely nothing to the taste if you have very strong absinthe, especially some strong enough to make you see things in walls. I think he was just calling you out, as they say.

Back on topic, my roommate and a few of our friends are going to do the absinthe thing this weekend (some really potent shit from the Czech Republic). I'll be sure and tell you how things turned out.

It's not about knowing more or less than me about a subject, it's about making a response that gives the impression that you know something when really you don't.
