Donkey Konga 2 is total shit, horrible, horrible songs that don't even remotely fall into the "Conga" section of music. At least the first one had classic Nintendo themes and a good selection of classical and oldies. This is just shit

And yeah, Gamespy is slow on the PC, but the Gamespy stuff for the consoles seems to work quite well.

At this stage in the console game, it's not gonna be a "Oh, this one has better graphics than that one" competition, its gonna be a "I like this game over this game" competition. People have already made up their minds with "I like playstation because of [these games] and I like xbox because of [these games]." What's gonna make or break the next system is what games are gonna be offered at launch, pricing, and just the differences between what's avaliable to you when you can get them.

It's gonna be close, easy as that.

Now I know the "it's a cmputer " argument is weak, but damned if I'm not sticking by it. While the ps2 and Gamecube seem geared more so towards being actual game consoles, it always seems to me that Microsoft just wanted to cash in on console gaming, saw a shitty computer they were using as a bookshelf and decided to tweak that to "fit in". I agree that they all started out as (and are moving towards being) home computers, I just don't see it as much of a game console as the others.

Bullshit, just because they had the balls to put amazing hardware in a console doesnt mean they are less of a console than the ps2 or gamecube.

Yes, for the time, it WAS amazing hardware. Let's take a trip in the Way Fucking Far Back Machine to the year 2001, when the Xbox was released. At the time, Intel is just starting to introduce the P4 at a little over GHz speeds. The 2001 "pretty good machine" is pretty much:

PIII 1 GHz
256 MB RAM
ATi or nVidia card
etc...

and was going to cost you around $1500 (or somewhere around there).

The Xbox had:

PIII 733 MHz
64 MB DDR RAM
Next generation nVidia graphics
First wide implementation of the nForce chipset

all for around, what was it, like $350? I don't know about you, but that was pretty bad ass back then.

It's gonna be the same thing with these new generations of consoles--it's always the same. Everyone poo poos on current gen stuff, but you have to realize it's all like 5 year-old hardware. It's going to look sucky in comparison. In six years, you'll see some kid going "Three symmetric processors? That's some bullshit."

I'm very interested at what Nintendo are going to announce, apparently they're going to "change the way we play and think about video games".
I know this could just be a general thing to say, but it sounds like they have a major development on the books. I know they purposefully haven't released details yet cause they wanted to wait for the Xbox 360 and PS3 to be well underway so they couldn't copy or at least get ideas.
