I don't care about specs, I still will probably purchase a PS3/Revolution before the XBox 360. And I may be mistaken, but I heard that Microsoft is planning to release Halo 3 the day PS3 comes out, which to me sounds so stupid.

It looks like a PC or Mac tower. So, here's my solution, beef up your own system, then wait for the games to come on PC. You'll save a lot of money because you won't be paying for plastic parts and labor.
Also, they're always trying to change the way we think about gaming and whatnot. No big thing there. Remember when Nintendo finally caught up with the rest of us and made their games on discs? Man, that made me change the way I played and thought about games.Comment

It seemed to me the last one had enough new stuff, the mission/storyline kind of cut off when it seemed there was 1 left to go... but you get that. It didn't seem rushed to me, but I'm no expert.

I don't think you should expect backwards-compatability by default as I'm sure it raises a load of technical issues.
After all, the PS2 is the only console able to play old games (afaik), not including GBA/DS.Comment

Yeah, but who says it's being rushed? Halo 2's ending was begging for a sequel, so my guess (with Bungie now being a MS shop) is that they've been developing this since right after H2's release or even a bit beforehand. My guess would put the PS3 somewhere in mid-to-late fall of next year (more likely Christmastime--makes more sense economically), which means that they still have a full year and a half of dev time. I was pretty sure they would come out with a Halo 3, not because of the ending (never played the second one), but simply because the first 2 games have made them so much money. I honestly don't mind it coming out at the same time as the ps3, I just hate seeing games being rushed - and I dunno why but it's become more apparent to me over the past year or so. The first halo seemed pretty good (overhyped, but still good), so I wouldn't mind trying out Halo 3 or the xbox 360 for that matter. The reason I say stupid for the idea of releasing Halo 3 on PS3's release date is because Halo was a launch title for XBox and one of, if not the only real selling point in terms of games to get when the system launched. Unless Microsoft can compensate for the wait time for Halo 3 with a very good launch titles library, there could be little reason to buy an XBox 360 early. However, I have also heard that when the PS3 releases, Microsoft with drop the XBox 360 price tag anywhere from $50 to $100. Waiting for them to polish a game is good, but with Halo seeming to be XBox's lifeline, waiting too long might be a bad thing.
