I felt like jumping one of the guys dressed up as darth vader last night. This movie did exactly what it was suppouse to do make a good lead up to 4,5 and 6. Break out your piggy banks, this ones worth seeing. The fight scenes are pretty amazing.

Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith (SPOILERS)

I went to see it opening night last night and it totally blew me away. Anakin's dark ascension was beautiful. The montage of the Jedi Purge was gorgeous and I actually felt grief and loss as all those Jedi were slaughtered. Our entire theater gasped at the inclination that Anakin was going to actually kill those children. Lucas got some balls just to even insinuate that. :wub:

The destruction of the Senate chamber was so creepily symbolic, when Palpy used it as his personal battleground with Yoda.

The lightsaber fights were cool, but too many closeups. A lot of the shots were just flashes of light.

Padme's death sucked, they cheated us. The novel says she died from wounds inflicted by Anakin, but in the movie she dies "like a punk", a "broken heart death." Her last words were what, "There is (still?) good in him." So she forces herself to die because there's still good in him? Lucas painted the most important woman in the 3 episides right into the female stereotype.. women just can't get a noble death, they have to die of broken hearts. Whatever, George. I think her 'forcing' herself to die made Anakin even worse! Hey thanks, Padme, score for the Sith! Party on, Darth!

The last scene with Obi and Anakin was a good tear-jerker. Not only was it just horrifically sad, but Ben just couldn't find the strength to kill his long-time apprentice, his best friend and constant companion. It obviously shows the reason why Vader was allow to 'be.' And Anakin's burns were actually very similar to the scars that are shown on his head in Return of the Jedi. I thought that was a good touch.

Seeing Tarkin was pretty cool, and it really looked just like a younger version of him. :grin:

I just love Star Wars. It's so much fun to just be a kid again for 2 hours. It really takes away the monotony and stress of whatever is going on in life at that exact moment.

I gotta get going, but I have plenty more to praise and rant about. I took over 200 photos from the theater because there were so many people dressed up in costumes and it was just an amazing night. Our whole theater house was ecstatic after the movie. I didn't see anyone grumbling. We had 5 theaters sold out in the house, all 500 seats each I do believe. It was unforgettable.

Oh, and Grevious was cool, but meh. He was better in the Clone Wars cartoon I think. The technological parts of Star Wars versus reality is done much better in the cartoons because everything looks harmonic. When you toss in CGI into a movie with real actors and props, it tends to lose the 'real' aspect of it. I think the Lord of the Rings trilogy did much better with CGI than SW did. Grevious was just a little too phony for me.

I agree, the movie was awesome! I think Lucas really did an awesome job at making the series flow. After episodes 1 and 2, you kind of liked Anakin and Lucas turned him into the... well... asshole that he needed to be for episodes 4, 5, and 6.

I did enjoy the lack of dumbassedness of Jar Jar in this movie, I liked him in Episode 1, but he sucked in Episode 2. The irony of Vader's anger from the dark side that he got to try to save Padme eventually killing her was another awesome, yet sad, part of the movie.

The difference was that this thread isn't specified if there's to be spoilers or not. The last thing I wanted was people to get pissed off that I ruined their movie because they hadn't seen it yet. On other forums it's a courtesy to other readers to have it labeled. That's all, no biggie.
