My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

1) yes, everyone? set amount of good reasons? it makes someone do something ethical or altrustic because they cant do it on their own?, churches have a lot of charities. It has a psychological effect that causes pleasure?
2) doesnt matter what the bible says. the bible could say plenty of things that are pro-suffering and evil. one could make up stuff in their head from distorted thoughts and call it gods law and say its right and moral, rather than figure out logically and simply which action leads to the least suffering and most pleasure. for example, one could make up inside of their head that God says homosexuality is 'unnatural' and wrong, and then that leads to gays suffering alienation or laws that cause suffering, where if they didnt do this, absolutely nothing would happen except gays would mind their own business and live better. again, in summery, you make things up inside your head and call it 'god' and 'natural' rather than just say 'this harmless choice leads to the least suffering for all'. false ethics.
3) i dont know, some people say its wonderful and spiritual when you feel that god is watching over you and its parnoid and a sickness when you think other things are watching you or have other types of feelings, i guess its pick and choose what is real and whats a delusion based on what it sounds like? seems so, i dont know

Ok, would you mind bringing it into the topic to talk about? What parts about Buddhism interest you the most? When did you first learn about it? Last but not least, why do you prefer it over Christianity? That's not meant to be a hostile question, I'd just like to get you as much leeway to make a huge response as posible. My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. 3) Do you think God watches over you all the time, overseeing every single action you take? Or does he delegate that to a "guardian angel" in your belief system, or neither?5:gen> man

Give those god-fearing citizens something to fear!
Unless he's on their side, which just proves my theory that god is, in fact, satan.

I didn't know some religions have to read the bible every day, is that true? And which ones, christianity, catholics, muslims, who?My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. Well, the Bible is supposed to be a holy text, written through the inspiration and guidance of God. I don't think randomly adding things you think might be good in the Bible to it counts as the inspiration of God.
In addition, I really think once has to believe in the Bible and adhere to what it says, in order to be a Christian. If you use the Bible for general morals it's no different from using any of 84932 other religions for general morals since they're all the same. You can even go read books of Greek mythology, containing great wisdom parables. In fact, you don't need to be religious to have sources of general morals, you can go buy a self-help book or one of the Chicken Soup for the [X] books. But in my mind for one to be religious, they actually have to believe in their religion, and not ignore it when it runs counter to what is easy for them, and pray diligently whenever something goes wrong.- k2
