Arsenal blatently needed to play 4-4-2. I don't really need to go into the fact that Dennis Bergkamp was woefully out of position, it was plain to see and there's nothing I can add that wasn't already said by John Motson and Mark Lawrenson. However instead of playing Reyes up front and Bergkamp off of him like was suggested by both the panel and commentators instead of what was happening which was Bergkamp up front and Reyes and Pires running from behind, I would have played both Berkamp and Reyes as a pair up front much in the style of Heskey and Owen used to. While they wouldn't have been as effective, it would have been a vast improvement on what we saw. Bergkamp would have been more than capable of holding his own and playing as a target man, winning the ball and feeing it through to Reyes much like we play with Shefki Kuqi and Darren Bent at Ipswich.

I would then have played Pires on the left and started with Ljundberg on the right, dropping Fabregas to the bench. For reasons unknown Wenger decided to play three central midfielders, two of which were holding defenders sat in front of the defence, and two advanced central midfielders. As a result Arsenal had to rely on their full backs for any kind of width, something which Manchester United countered brilliantly by playing Rooney on the right and pinning Ashley Cole back, alongside Ronaldo who was chosen ahead of Giggs and is less prone to drift inside.

Yes watching that match i thought the first 15 mins were Arsenals the rest was mainly Man Utd and they really should have ended it before extra time.

Arsenal seemed to get there tactics wrong and didn't really change much then that was clearly obvious. Whereas Ronaldo and Rooney were both bright sparks and imo Ronaldo was man of the match though Rooney had spells where he looked like scoring i think Ronaldo's performance was a little more consistant.


Ultimatley i think we (Man utd) did play better football and were alot more positive in our play but we needed to take the chances, most were 1/2 chances but some where clear cut. When it goes to penalties its anyones game and the quality of penalties was, on the whole, good but Arsenals were a bit better.


However i'm still left feeling slightly robbed --- robbed and violated like a girl after her first date with John Leslie

Life really isn't fair. Chelsea got kicked out even though they played soccer x10 better than the second best team.
