in my opinion, a simple reason for the failures is the effort to create drugs of no 'abuse' potential. i doing so you end up with SSRIs and other strange drugs that do not make people feel better. Drugs that truly make people feel better are also going to be drugs with no dose response ceiling, that is, simply doubling the dose would cause it to go from treatment to a euphoric high, unlike the drugs that are allowed and used. no im saying that in effort to create drugs with low abuse potential they have come up with some shitty drugs, such as prozac. ill give you an example, if someones on 30 mg per day of prozac as a treatment and that person decides one day to eat 60 mg, they arent going to get high just from rasing the dose a little, however, if they are a person who seems to get pain or mental relief from 15 mg oxycodone, and one day they decide to up thier dose to 30mg for the hell of it, they are going to go from treated to high, no real dose response ceiling. Unfortunately if major depressives are going to truly be treated, its likely going to be a drug the behaves more like the latter, and they dont like this, so they keep pushing tricyclics, SSRIs, strange mood stablizers, even anti-psychotics.Originally posted by KyaceComment
