It depends when i jam with my band we use stack amps - electric because you need that much sound.
it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did

you need both. Acoustic for playing on your own. Electric for playing with a band/friends.

not exactly, some bands use acoustic and just need a pickup to make it a bit louder, although acoustic pickups aren't cheap.

I play electric on my own. I have one of those cheap portable fender Can amps, i keep it in a backpack and it's as portable as an acoustic (even more so, I think - a slim electric plus a small amp that isn't AS delicate as a wooden acoustic)

With an electric, you can really explore. I'd say half my time spent in my garage playing guitar is trying new things - my current idea is playing very sloppily, letting fingers fall slightly off - it produces a really neat feedback/crunch effect that sounds really neat. It'd sound horrible on acoutic to be sure, but it adds element and depth on the 'lectric.

Acoustics have their ups- more of a chilled instrument, like when you and your pals are hanging out and someone's got that guitar-itch, soft acoustic is nice.

You need a pre-amp for your acoustic. Thats all and then it will have the sound you want, loudness wise, from your stack. But technically you should have a pre-amp if your playing from a stack.

I suggest going to a midi pickup and using a Roland midi system for your electric. Then you can sound like your playing a Strat, Tele, Rickenbacher 6 or 12 string, Bass, Banjo, Acoustic guitar, 12 string acoustic, frettless bass, stand up bass and on and on.....I use this set-up on my Steinberger I had modified. It was costly, but I now have probably 20 different styles/characteristic traits of other guitars, basses and so on.

Pre-amp the acoustic prior to the foot pedals and you should get amplitude you desire...using just a small pignose amp would work!

Acoustics sit on your lap better, and I'm a pretty lazy fucker. Plus acoustics are harder to play so if you spend more time on your acoustic you'll learn fsater - although being good on an acoustic doesn't demand that you're automatically good at an electric, you still really need to practice. I spent all night playing Street Spirit, drove my parents up the wall

I dunno, I'm a small guy and acoustics are sort of clumsy. My SG was pretty light, and my Tele was perfect. I've sold them and I'm saving up for a Squier Jagmaster I've seen at Shreveport Music, It's a charm to play and it has tons of tone combinations because of the way the switches are set up. I have played it sitting down and it is sort of awkward, but if I prop up my knee on a small footrest it's ok

For a small electric with a wide range of sound, check out Steinberger guitars. They are small!!! But pack a loud sound.

If you live in a dorm and play electric you'll piss your roommates off. That's why I always played acoustic at college.

                            Depends on the Song.

I love "Disarm" and other songs, that are accoustic, and other songs I love in Electric.

Then there's some, like "San Dimas High School Football Rules" which sound better accoustic, but sound good as Electric.

                            I can't pick.

I play my electric quote a lot without plugging it into an amp actually. It sounds shit but the nect/body fits more comfortably. And it makes less noise if my parents are sleeping or something =/

ps. Someone recommend me an effects pedal/processor.
My uncle was nice enough to borrow me his Line 6 pod xt live (great thing) after my small pedal-less effects-processor got crushed under my car. But he needed it back so I'm effectless now.

I just have alot of Boss pedals: a phaser, flanger, metal distortion pedal and regular distortion pedal. Also, a Dunlop Crybaby wah, rarely used alone though. I want a Boss GT-8 processor, but at my local music shop its like $250, so I've got to save
