The Infield Fly:
This is a rule in baseball for when there are runners ont he bases and the ball is hit high int he air (a flyball) within the infield. The batter is automatically out. The reason for this is simple, it gives the defence an unbalanced advantage. As the man about the catch the fly ball I could just let it drop, bare hand it, and get ane asy two outs because the runners would be ont he bag expecting me to catch it. If they were off the bag i'd catch it, meaning they can't run, and throw them out at the bag.
The rule is in effect to stop double plays, to keep more guys on base, to cause more scoring. The only TWO TIME TWLJ All-Star and TWLB All-Star who never played a game.

Almost. The rule is only applied when there are runners at first and second (or third, but first and third are the bare minimum requirement. If there were just a runner on first, the rule is not applicable, even though it's still a possible, though less probable, to pull a double play) and there are less than two out (because with two outs there is no threat of a double play). Oh, and even under these conditions, it still requires a judgement call from an umpire that the ball can be reasonably caught in the infield area with little difficulty. There's also the situation where the ball is dropped in foul territory after an infield fly rule is called or if the ball lands in the infield and rolls foul before being touched by the defence. In those situations, the infield fly rule is cancelled, the batter is not out and it counts as a regular fly ball.
My point still stands though; there's no rule in hockey that is as confusing as this.

if the goalie is behind the net, then he can save the puck that may have passed through the goal line making it a goal, but he catches it and throws it into play. its a goal if it goes into his glove past the line now

The goalie should be free to do whatever he wants. It's going to kill the power of a stick handling goalie, the best ones in the league, Brodeur, Belfour, Joseph are the ones who play the puck a lot to clear their zone.5: Da1andonly> !ban epinephrine

Its frustrating to write these lines after every post^
I'd hope there would be another way..like some automatic system that fills them itself after every post.

-Anyway, removing centerline is great in theory imo, but like said before it didnt work so well in Finland.
-Goalie should be allowed to move freely in own zone, but this new rule gives better chance to get pressure into offensive end now.
-Shootout in regular season? Hell no, it doesnt belong to regular season.

In the playoffs however, I'd rather see overtimes even if they go into a second, third or even a fourth extra frame. There's more on the line in the playoffs than in the season and I don't want to see a skill contest deciding playoffs. Sudden death playoff OTs have some of the most intense and dramatic action in sports. Part of what's special about the Stanley Cup playoffs and what makes it recognized as one of the hardest playoff style tournaments in the world to win is that it's also test of endurance and grit. Replacing playoff overtime periods with shootouts would take away from that.

Originally posted by Troll KingI have no problem with shootouts to settle games in the regular season. It's the playoffs where I want to see continuous sudden death overtime periods instead. Regular season games don't really matter as much, and the plan right now is for there to be an overtime period and THEN a shootout. My understanding is that teams still get a point in the standings even if they lose in overtime. You get an extra point for winning the shootout, and that's the same result if that team had scored in the sudden death portion. The only real change then is that there'd be no ties, and that's hardly a big loss.

It's a team sport so it should be the whole team that has a deciding influence of the outcome. shouldn't be based on which team has bought the most skilled offensive players.7:Randedl> afk, putting on makeup
