PJ isn't what I'd call a champion of anti-americanism. He's just a poster that felt like putting up a silly little ms paint drawing about the french. When I see people talk badly about Americans, they do so in a condscending manner and actually seem serious in the notion that they're better. Maybe I missed one of his posts, but PJ didn't seem like he was seriously trying to knock the intelligence or french society in general. I mean if you're going to take that drawing as a serious offense, then I guess you consider all the silly stuff Illyaz posts in other topics to be horrible too, right? You can't pick and choose which picture or quote is worse than the other just because one doesn't fit your cause.

I guess you could say I'm biased because I'm american, and that I don't see the picture that offensive because I'm not french- but it works that way with you also. You might find it more offensive than not simply because of where you live, who you are good friends with or whatever.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

And like I said, PJ's complaints are usually along the lines of "stop telling us what you think we're doing wrong". I don't find that insulting at all when people say things like "you voted for Bush? He's going to ruin the environment", but to him it's equivalent to spitting on the flag (I've got an actual quote for that, if you're wondering). I sure don't find it remotely close to being as insulting as his drawing.

You speak of "picking and choosing to support your cause"? That's what I'm seeing from PJ in this thread.

Obviously you were addressing me, Troll King. When I posted that I had to assume there was a pretty good chance you'd drag your cross over to me, climb on up and proceed to shake your finger at me as to why I was wrong to post what I did. Which is fine - it's what you've always done.

What I did was light-hearted...I by no means wasn't intending to strike deep in the heart of France with my aptly-timed insult. To compare my stupid drawing and a handful of other posts to hundreds/thousands of insults on this forum based on sketchy intelligence and popular opinion in other countries isn't exactly fair.

"stop telling us what you think we're doing wrong" - taken a little out of context, but I'll go with it. Simply put, I got tired and somewhat irritated with people constantly drudging up the same tiresome arguments and insults (chances are if you check a current thread on this forum you'll find some kind of "America compared to everything else" debate). Admittedly, I might've become more irritated than I should've- I'd just sat through and ignored enough of the comments over the years, which led to me reaching my boiling point with the matter.

Other than that, Liquid Blue pretty much hit it on the head concerning my picture. I don't have anything against France; hell, I've been there - it was nice! Like I said before, it was meant in a teasing, light-hearted manner. I didn't intentionally mess up the flag colors, by the way...I went from memory and got them mixed up. Most people don't present their grievances with the United States in the same manner- they just tell us we're fat and fucked. If you take me for some kind of "champion of anti-americanism", that's fine. A little extreme, but ok. I'd just like you to know that that isn't me at all, though.

My country has its faults like like any other. If I come across as screaming that America's shit doesn't stink, that's my fault. I was just exhausted from every single 15 year old who watches 10 minutes of their country's news each week dishing out international insults like candy.

For the record, if my picture seriously offends anyone I'll take it down. Better yet, I'll edit it so it doesn't include croissants and berets!

EDIT: Also, if I was "always upset with anti-Americanism" I would be a really, really angry person all of the time.

Arguments aren't always insults but you've lumped them together in previous threads. Light-hearted or not, your pic was not an argument but the latter, and also fits the definition of "sketchy intelligence and popular opinion in other countries". As for the "15 year old who watches 10 minutes of their country's news each week dishing out international insults like candy", again, you can apply that tag to the content of this thread, yours and those of others. Different country, same situation. You can argue that there are more cases of anti-Americanism out there, (excluding those you so-labelled but are more "arguments" than "insults") but that doesn't detract from the point: if you think it's wrong for America, then it should also be wrong for France.

Good points, I imagined you'd throw those arguments (I kept spelling it wrong in my last thread; I rule) at me but I went ahead and posted my steam-of-consciousness anyway. I don't think what I did is as bad as you make it out to be, but you're entitled to your opinion. We'll spin in circles concerning this matter as we usually do, so I'll just leave it at "not the most well thought out move on my part"; mostly because we've never been big fans of each other.

I still find the picture amusing.

Don Johnson loves all nationalities, races and creeds.

                        (Except the French.)
